Pistol, Magnum, SMG, Silenced SMG, Chrome Shotgun, Hunting Rifle, Military Sniper Rifle, Spas Combat Shotgun, Tactical Auto Shotgun, Scar Desert Rifle, AK47, M60, MP5 and SG552 gunshot volume decreased by 36%
Pump Shotgun gunshot volume decreased by 20%
All Minigun and all Chainsaw sound volumes decreased by 20%

How to use with conflicting mods:

Step 1: Subscribe to Quiet Guns, launch L4D2, wait for the mod to download and install

Step 2: Exit L4D2

Step 3: Locate your L4D2 workshop folder
(C:)\ Program Files or Program Files (x86) \Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons\workshop
(Windows default)
or right click L4D2 in your library -> properties -> local files -> browse local files -> left4dead2\addons\workshop

Step 4: Copy "742034800.vpk" to your desktop

Step 5: Go to your Steam Library and select "Tools" instead of "Games"

Step 6: Download "Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tools"

Step 7: Open your L4D2 game folder and go to bin
(C:)\ Program Files or Program Files (x86) \Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\bin

Step 8: Find "vpk.exe" and create a shortcut to it on your desktop

Step 9: Drop 742034800.vpk onto your vpk.exe shortcut

Step 10: Locate your L4D2 sound folder
(C:)\ Program Files or Program Files (x86) \Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\sound

Step 11: Create a copy of the "weapons" folder, in case you wish to uninstall Quiet Guns

Step 12: Move the weapons folder from 742034800\sound to left4dead2\sound and replace all
Warning for Mac users: you need to merge folders or replace the specific files manually, otherwise you will delete some sound files


Now you can deactivate Quiet Guns in your addons list (or unsubscribe) and it will still be active
Gun mods with custom sounds can be activated, while guns without them will still be quieter
If you wish to uninstall, simply replace the weapons folder with the previously created copy or go to your steam library, right click L4D2, properties, local files, verify integrity of game files
