"Beyond" OmegaChess Advanced

Description
Beyond Chess is a chess variant that uses a modular gameboard that actually shifts during play. Rather than playing on an 8×8 grid, the game is played on 64 movable squares.

Players can move pieces as well as game squares, causing an ever changing landscape of movement possibilities. Furthermore, it is possible to entirely isolate an opponent's playing piece, thus rendering it immobile. It should also be noted that the colour disruption black/white/black can thwart Bishopds - if you want to play it that way, ie Bishops confined to their own colour - or allow the ability to change colour - producing two same colour Bishops in play the possibilities are endless!

Not only does Beyond OC Advanced make 'opening books' obsolete, but consider the 'opening book' of the board. If you are intimidated by OC Advanced I have re-produced David Crocket's original 2006 brilliant idea, Beyond Chess - the standard Chess game with the addition of the moving board.

It is lamentable that the official Beyond Chess rules are no longer available as it included 'stacking tile' rules and further details, my wife used to run a promotional site for the game, but alas it was not frequented and all the invaluable information on the game (in cooperation with the author) was lost. I think there is a possibility to introduce tile stacks by calling them 'hills' and effectively increasing the range of a piece that occupies them - play testing required!

The game was designed by David Crocket in 2006.

Each tile was moved one position maintaining at least a corner contact with its neighbour (on the first move by white no tile is moved only the piece). In other words no islands. As the game progressed the board became unrecognisable and the strategic implication of disrupting and isolating pieces added a whole new dimension to the game.

The only extra rule being the ability to move a pawn and the tile it is sitting upon one space forward in one move, this counted as both a board and a piece move.

I have added this game to Omega Chess Advanced, the rules of which are on my blog given below or on my Omega Chess Advanced game available in the workshop - I am still play testing this, and will update my blog with moves etc.

Sad to hear about the loss of information. Not sure if you would be interested but I have developed a chess variant with movable board squares, including stacking.
