XCOM 2 Siege

Description
This mod makes basic ini file tweaks to cover defence values, Overwatch shot penalties and the AI's sense of self-preservation. The changes include:

  • Low cover now offers 30 defence (up from 20).
  • High cover now offers 50 defence (up from 40).
  • High ground now offers 10 defence (up from 0).
  • Overwatch shots now fire at 80% accuracy (up from 70%).
  • Overwatch shots against dashing targets now fire at 70% accuracy (up from 60%).
  • The AI is now values high cover over twice as much and will prefer it over low cover more often.
  • The AI is no longer penalised for staying in the same spot for its own turn, and will be less likely to reposition for no reason.
  • More tweaks as I think of anything else to change.

Disclaimer: There are several other mods like this one on the Workshop, many of which are far larger, more intricate and outright better than mine. This mod exists primarily for those who want the cover and AI changes from other mods without the additional "higher difficulty" tweaks that usually accompany them.

Customising the mod
This mod's config files are located in Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\630505207\Config. XComGameCore.ini contains all of the accuracy changes, XComAI contains the AI behaviour changes. Tweak those as you see fit.

War of the Chosen compatibility
This mod is compatible with both the War of the Chosen expansion pack and vanilla XCOM 2.

Compatibility with other mods
Mods which change cover defence values, reaction fire aim penalties and height advantage stats could overwrite some or all of the changes this mod does. EU Aim Rolls uses its own standard aim calculation and its own height advantage stats, for instance. In such cases, I'd suggest tweaking the ini files for all mods involved to the value you want.

To be honest, at the time of writing I think that reference was to Long War 2. XCOM 2 Siege is a recreation of a set of personal tweaks I'd made to XCOM: Enemy Within, at the time mostly repeating part of what the original Long War team had done. Come XCOM 2, I just went ahead and made my own standalone version using I think the same stats.

If there were other mods that do this at the time, I don't remember what those would have been. It's been two years :) Sorry for the uninformative response.

I like yours but I'd like to see how "better" the others are

I was wondering if you could direct me to these other better mods so I can see if what they have is something i want, tired of overwatch constantly missing mostly. You are taking a turn to prepare a shot, even a reaction shot should be more accurate not less.

BUG?

i got really lucky on my second mission. sectoid on a terror mission (i usually take my shinobi+4 snipers)
screenshot

( my previous screenshot )....same weird height disadvantage as positive (i most likely screwed up editing the EU aim rolls mod's ini file and should really have put a negative)
I'll edit the ini in that mod, see what happens. then remove that tweak and see if your bonus comes into play.
??

It's in the mod's description under "War of the Chosen compatibility." Short answer: yes.

Thank you very much, that's enough ♥

The mod's so dirt simple that I don't know it's worth creating a standalone version, but you can do the change locally. Navigate to the Config folder listed in the description and delete the XComAI.ini file. That has the AI changes, getting rid of it will remove them. It won't break anything in the mod, it's far too simple for that :)

Could you make a non-AI-changing version of this? I'd prefer to keep the "A Better AI: Wotc" Mod. Am afraid of incompatibilities
