The Steam version of this game contains a "CondemnedA.Arch00" file which is a bit smaller than the retail release's respective file. As a result of this, and some audio files even being reversed within this .Arch00 file (such as the ones for Chapter 4 which cause the train or subway car to be silent), many sounds are simply not heard in the game.

Most of the other files from the Steam version are exactly the same size, except for another file that's similarly named "CondemnedL.Arch00". However since "CondemnedA.Arch00" contains most of the game's files, "CondemnedL.Arch00" might not even be needed. Regardless of this: I've included both .Arch00 files from my retail game to download which will address this issue for the Steam version.

Main Method

Follow the steps exactly as they’re written and make sure not to continue a save game afterwards that's in the middle of a chapter (make a "New Game" or use the "Load Chapter" feature instead) so you can avoid possible bugs!!

Step 1. I recommend using 7-Zip ( http://www.7-zip.org/download.html ) to extract the file we're about to download.
Step 2. Download my retail "CondemnedA.Arch00" file from either of the links below:

Step 3. Although this file is probably not needed, you should also download my "CondemnedL.Arch00" file from either of the links below:

Step 4. Extract both files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Condemned Criminal Origins\Game\ , and overwrite both of the original files that exist there.

Inside the main game folder (Steam version) you've got 19 files. Most of these are similar to the retail release's, with the exception of 3 files. Readme.txt file for the Steam version is essentially blank, the Condemned.exe file is different in size and my retail game lacks an "installscript.vdf" file for obvious reasons. I've also got 2 shortcuts the Steam version wouldn't have: Uninstall Condemned - Criminal Origins and View the player data folder.

Inside the "Game" subfolder of the main game folder: ClientFX.fxd, GameServer.dll and Interface.asset00 are all the same size. GameClient.dll, however, is different and so are the 2 Arch00 files. Here are the Arch file sizes for anyone that's interested:
Retail CondemnedA.Arch00: 6.21 GB (6,679,167,735)
Steam CondemnedA.Arch00: 6.14 GB (6,601,846,380)
Retail CondemnedL.Arch00: 658kb (674,576)
Steam CondemnedL.Arch00: 649kb (664,748)

It should be noted that MAPTbiLLIKA ( http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/4720/discussions/0/864950181811815560/ - page 1, post #7) noticed that there was something wrong with the Steam version before me and was one of the first to report the very issue that this guide deals with:
"I think, the problem is not in hardware. I unpacked the archive CondemnedA.Arch00 and compared there with files from other retail version of this game. All audio files are present, but the contents of the folder containing this audio files for the mission three (Metro Tunnels) are reversed. That's why we do not hear the sound of a train and where huge spinning generators no ambient playing. Sorry for my bad english)))".

Thanks dude. I thought it was a really interesting decision artistically to not include any audio for the train; turns out it was a glitch, lol.

Too bad this patch leaves you without the option to change the language other than English.
I already suspected that there was something strange in the sound because many times the game was silent. Anyway, thanks for trying, but I had to re-download the files from Steam.
