barely playable on modern pcs sadly

Sorry, but unless you're a die-hard horror game fan and still haven't played Condemned, you can skip it. I heard lots of good things about the series but maybe the second game that's still stuck on consoles is the one you actually want. Either that or the first one just aged terribly, and its PC port is known for being bad anyway: After downloading missing files (wtf?), a widescreen fix, an FPS fix, and a sound fix, you might still end up with bugs like flashing shadows or slow motion movement on slopes and stairs.

Condemned has some of the worst writing I've seen. It's hardly ever scary and you quickly get bored of the same-looking environments because you always get the same washed-out grey and brown tones with blurry textures and way too much bloom, whether you're in a flooded subway or in a school basement. If you play it on the hardest difficulty, you'll at least get a somewhat enjoyable brawler with survival horror elements once in a while between the many walking simulator sections that clearly inspired Outlast. But the dumb story with most of its arcs leading nowhere isn't really worth it going through the repetitive janky gameplay.

If you're interested in historical horror games, sure, go for it. But you don't miss anything if you don't. Moving from FEAR to Condemned is like moving from Dead Space to Callisto Protocol, except that people have already successfully copied the better parts of Condemned in other games.

WHY ARE THE CRAWLING CRACKHEADS TERRIFYING FOR NO REASON?! LIKE SHOULDN'T THEY BE ON LITERAL CRACK?! ARE THEY JUST RUNNING OFF OF ADRENALINE AND THAT'S WHY THEY ARE CRAWLING ON THE FLOOR AND WALLS LIKE SPIDERMAN AND ♥♥♥♥?!
