Beta Chondri MS1 - Modular Vanilla Small Ship

Description
Beta Chondri MS1

Modular Small Ship developed my Engi Aerospace
Significantly modified from the unreleased Alpha version

Data

No modifications
No pistons
No rotors
Number of blocks: 9885
Mass of ship: 337,000 kg
Mass of ship and tail: 427,000 kg

Information

The Beta Chondri MS1 is a ship designed on the small grid and does not use ANY
modifications. It is a modular vacuum and atmospheric craft designed for an
optimal crew of 2. The Beta Chondri MS1 consist of two sections: the ship
section and the tail section.

The tail section is equipped with ion thrusters and a gravity generator. This
section is designed for interplanetary travel only. Upon reaching a planetary
body, the ship can detach from the tail and fly closer and land on the surface.
The ship is optimized for flight through both vacuum and atmopsheric volumes.

Once again, the tail section is not designed for natural gravity. Engi
Aerospace is not responsible for any accidents that may result from flying the
tail section into a natural gravity well.

Operation

The first section of the toolbar contains a toggleable button which turns the
merge blocks connecting the tail on and off. To detach the tail, simply press
this button and fly the ship down and away. Press it again and fly up into the
tail to reattach it.

It is strongly advised that P is not pressed during operation of the Beta
Chondri MS1. The gravity generator is attached with both landing gear and
connector. IF P IS PRESSED, press it again to ensure that in the bottom right
corner, the landing gear are "in proximity". If they are, this means that the
connector is holding the gravity generator, which is powered by battery. If the
landing gear are "locked", then the connector is not attached to the gravity
generator and the battery will drain.

Uranium can be loaded into the tail section in the top.

Thank you for using Engi Aerospace!

ok i will be gentle also will you make a mothership thats able to dock this thing and also land on planets with like emergency self destruct systems or alarms and extendable landing gear?
ATMLVE  [author] 20 Feb, 2016 @ 10:10am
Yeah you can land, I put heavy armor slopes at the bottom for that. It does stay upright on them too even though there's only four. But be gentle!

Can you actually land with this ship? I said this becuase the landing gear makes me think i can
ATMLVE  [author] 16 Feb, 2016 @ 6:00pm
Well there's lots more Greek letters!

I see i see, still it would be nice to have both and since your ship looks great, i think it would be nice to know people would actually use it and have adventures with it :)

Plus Josh, I was more so going for something cool, a neat concept, rather than an actual functional ship that someone might use in a survival world. I don't expect a small ship to exit a gravity well with four hydrogen tanks!

And Lord Wraith, the ship and all of the pictures are taken in a 100% vanilla game. There are not even effects to make the screenshots nicer, and certainly nothing adding new blocks.

nice design, question by the looks it's all vanilla is this right, if so well done, if not what mods are you using?
Joshua Norton 16 Feb, 2016 @ 1:35pm
Yep, i did run into the same problem with my current design for a small ship running on all hydro.
I could barely fire the engines for 2 minutes with 2 full tanks+1 oxygen generator.
But i think its being worked on because as of now, hydrogens for small ships are almost useless.

Nontheless, nice design, even i generally don't like big small grid ships that much ;)

Yeah I know. I did put a lot of room though, and mods and settings can be used to boost capacity. Besides, it was either hydrogen thrusters, or both ion and atmospheric.

Ah, you won't have much fun with the hydros though, the small grid hydro tank capacity is....lackluster :(
