Description
Introducing everyone's favourite spaceships - flying saucers!

Designed to (but not limited to!) produce an interesting take on the flying saucer trope, this mod brings a few interesting features to the fore:

- Boostable weaponry in a variety of shapes and sizes

- Power generation based on how you build your ship, resulting in;

- A fiendish balancing exercise, getting the right amount of generation:cost:power:survivability

Things to note:

You cannot link more than one Charge Generator to a single set of boosters - this will result in unfireable guns (intentional).

Your power generators are the Piezo-electric hull shapes, your power storage comes in the form of Crystal Hull. balance these carefully - Crystal Hull also doubles as armour.

Balancing this was an exercise in self-flagellation - there will be things that may seem over-, or under- powered - I'm working on this.

Additonally, the list of pre-defined ships is a little smaller than I'd like, this is also being updated over time.

As requested, a short explanation of the mechanics of this mod:

Piezo-electric hull is your power generation. Ideally, the centre of your ship should be built with this, as it's quite fragile.

Power storage is the Crystal Hull, which is also tough, and hard to destroy. You want to be using this externally, to protect the core, and the piezo-electric hull.

There are various weapons, most of which are standard in their use. The exception to this is the Charge Generator.

The Charge Generator is the only module which can be affected by upgrade modules. At it's most basic, it is a fairly underwhelming cannon, with a reasonable rate of fire. The following modules can be attached (in any sequence) to it, in order to improve it's capabiities.

Damage Augmenter (flat damage increase with associated power usage increase)
Range Augmenter (flat range and velocity increase with associated power usgae increase)

Sniper Module
Mortar Module
Overcharge Augmenter
Rapid Fire Module

The 4 modules above increase vastly the capabilities of the cannon, but (with the exception of the Mortar Module), only by PERCENTAGE values. They are expensive, both in P and in power usage.

It can often be more effective to have several charge generators doing different things, rather than one mighty gun.

Most of the hull is much heavier than most vanilla factions, and the thrusters are designed to compensate.

The experimental thruster has a shield (as well as high thrust, and a significant Thruster Boost), which, when used on a smaller ship, is liable to drain power at an alarming rate if you're receiving incoming damage. My suggestion would be to use these on larger ships only.

do charge cannon augmenters stack? as in you can put augmenters on augmenters, or do they have to be directly touching the cannon

The recursive nature of the patterns looks like this, hoperfully. You can tile the pentagons into a ring like this (note you can fill it in with 5 rhombuses)

You can then put the narrow tiles around it thusly :

and after this point, you need bigger pentagons, as there are no larger sizes. You can make those like this:

The trick to getting weapons to work, since there are no rhombus boosters, is rotating the larger pentagons within the shape.

Not sure what search engine you are using, because there is nothing on penrose tiling other than either mass tilings, pentagon only fractals, and patterns that also use obtuse triangles, or squares in addition to the rest.
