Better Germanic Paganism Units Pack

Description
This mod further improves Germanic Paganism by adding 3 custom temple units.

Many in Late Antiquity found themselves at the crossroad: Keeping the Old Gods and customs or convert to Christianity and find a new way of living. As I liked how the game shows this in the Roman technology tree, I tried to make something similar with Germanic Paganism. The level 3 temple buildings will now give acces to new custom units that bring back the spirit of ancient Germanic warfare, as honouring the Old Gods means honouring the ancestors and their ways. Therefore, those who honour them most would also fight like their forefarthers, earning their protection and the blessing of the Gods:


Wodanaz Spears
" Protected by the All-Father, these men ditch heavy armour in favour of even larger spears, swifter stabbing and the extra portion of rage."

Taiwaz Berserkers
"Mighty Taiwaz, I killed this one for you! This one too! ... and that one!"

Valkyries of Freya
"Armed with bow and spear, these resolute tribeswomen honour Lady Freya by making sure that there are always enough dead heroes for Freyas hall Sessrumnir, where one half of the fallen warriors will be carried to."

Protected by the Gods and ancestors, all new units are very lightly armoured, relying on speed and skill-at-arms. Honouring the old ways, they are deeply connected with their surroundings and are experts at raiding and ambushes. Resemblence with iconic units from Rome II is very much intended.

Update 1:
shields changed to germanic / celtic round shields to avoid problems with hex shield pattern; different bow mesh for valkiries; slightly altered unit stats and recruitment costs for better balancing; redundant unit abilities removed

New & stylish custom unit icons
Wodanaz Spears now grudgingly wear light chainmail for extra stabbing time
custom skins for Germanic Noble Swordsmen who now look as flashy as you'd expect

Great mod, original idea, unique units, nice colors and cards. In fact I already had my own unit recruitable from the Major Germanic Pagan buildings but was not satisfied and started searching again. Then I found this mod, much better than mine.

For my own game I added some flavour and changed some abilities. For instance, to make the Valkyries even more unique I gave them poisoned arrows. Because of balance, this is a version with weaker poison, they have less ammunition and their upkeep is higher.

any reason this doesn't work for visigoths once settled? doesnt even show in custom battle, but the suebi do have them. im asking for campaign not custom but figured, as germnic pagans, that the visigoths would also have these units

You had a good idea with the addition of your units but I find that the "freya valkyries" do not do well you would have to find a more perfect name like "skjaldmo".
I advice you to add "skin of wolves" also call ulfhednar. In any case one could even add tothe units of rome total war 2 they were much more charismatic than the current one.

ok try it out sometime is it just for franks,lombards,alamanni,saxons,brugundians or can you use them as marcomanni as im using forgotten realms mod and macomanni are german tribe

Thanks! I couldn't find a way to change the Voice Overlay yet, altough it actually only affects the officers' voices who are in fact male by default.

BTW I made another mod "Amazing Germanic Paganism Units" that gives better stats to these units for all those of you who expected a bit more of them.
