Generic Civilizations

Description
Goal: remove all references to real-Earth history. This means changing names of civilizations, religions, great people, leaders, cities, special buildings, units, technologies, wonders, and more to remove "jarring" references to real history.

Civs converted so far: Austria, France, Japan, Germany, Denmark, China, Egypt, England, Inca, Korea, Maya, Mongolia, Ottomans, Persia, Songhai, Sweden, Babylon, Spain, America, Russia, Arabia, Iroquois, India, Carthage, Netherlands, Polynesia, and Celts.

I can understand that to a degree. I'm not sure how I feel about changing the names of the leaders and Civilisations themselves though, especially to names that are so, for lack of a better term, fantasy. I was more expecting removal of certain locations and time periods, as well as what other nations they were freed from and/or fell to.

Yes, that's right WhiteNerd. I mostly wanted to enjoy the game engine without it interfering with my understanding of history.

Hoping to resume this work with Civ VI.

So just to see if I follow here. Basically, your editing the names and descriptions to remove all references to real life? The Civs still play the same though, right?

Names and cultural tidbits? I understand now. Your goals is to eliminate everything significant which distinguishes among the civilizations. No unique units or buildings, or cultural traits to try out. I'm sure there must be an audience for this approach, but it's not me.

If you would like assistance is manufacturing names and cultural tidbits for these generic Civs, you need only ask.

It's an idea I've taken an interest in, I'll try it out when it's more fleshed out.

I inferred incorrectly that you got to choose your generic civ's unique advantages after seeing your position on the map. But it appears, instead, that no civ has any unique advantages. Unless I am wrong about that, this mod would seem to remove flavor from the game without adding anything. I am going to disable the mod for now, but will check back here in a day or two to learn if I am missing something.
