Destroyer HMS Doodlehog - EnterElysium

The HMS Doodlehog class was laid down as a test platform for offensive laser technology and high-speed jet/hydrofoil propulsion. As such it strangely combines a long range weapon with a very fast platform which some would see as a contradiction or worse a liability. None-the-less the Doodlehog's ability to travel very quickly to build and deploy ships, outposts or air support, in its role as an engineering ship, comes in useful when time is short.

The Doodlehog makes use of expensive light-weight metal alloy throughout with the minor exception of some small sections of the nose which are metal to aid with balance and protection. In addition the from of the Doodlehog features substantial shielding although it lacks any form or rear protection which can be problematic if enemies are allowed to flank the destroyer.
