DLC Guide : The pros & cons of $

Intro
In before, you might be very confused about "Hey isn't there is already a DLC guide? Why did you create another one?". It's nearly the same thing to saying that there's also a (multiple) guides for "Deathwish fugitive/mastermind/enforcer/ghost/technician build thing". And so this is created out of personal opinion on any DLCs that "Should I buy this? / Should I not buy this?" not to mention the dlc are too mainstream dont buy them because overkill want money $4.99 streamlined price across the board (except the map packs because they're maps and you sure know that they're bigger than pack of guns and melee weapons).

This guide will cover all of the DLCs and the upcoming one that overkill are going to release next for 2 years or so.
Overview
This is a guide, not an in-depth review into each part and points of DLCs as far as we (most of the readers) knows that we're interested in guns and heists.

But what about the masks?
Masks are distributed in all DLCs in same concept as : 4 masks / 4 materials / 4 patterns. But in some cases in some DLC, there will be unique amount of masks or not even a mask at all; this is a special case but it won't show in this guide.

Some weapon looks like it might belong to primary but instead is in secondary instead. But if you're still not sure which guns belongs to which pocket in your inventory...

This guide will also provide the Pro and Cons of each weapons up to melee weapons and throwables.

Here are some words in this guide which will show off very often in weapon sections or in pros & cons

Stability = Recoil
Stability = Higher is good
Recoil = Lower is good

Stealth = Concealment
Concealment = Higher is good

Ammo capacity = What you have in your gun
Ammo reserve = What you have in your pocket

Knives range = 185 (basic on most of the knives-like melee)
Slightly longer/Slightly shorter = +10 and -10 respectively

Most of the melee charge time are set to 2 seconds. If this is not mentioned in the weapons section that means that melee have a charge of 2 seconds.

Some DLC features a set of 3 weapons. Given a example of: Gage Sniper Pack or even Gage Weapon Pack #02. Those set of weapons are given their hidden role that you're supposed to use them in the way that they are shown. Like : Rattlesnake Sniper is a anti-normal-enemies sniper rifle. Even that if they don't have the roles that they are supposed to have they will come in a way of 3 Grades guns: Good-in-one-way / Middle ground gun which is good at everything / An-another-Good-in-one-way, for example: RPK Light machine gun unlocks at level 0, but it's the least viable weapon in the pack.


Some skills that are mentioned in this guide :

Silent Killer
Basic : Increase damage with supressed weapon by 15%
Aced : Increase damage with supressed weapon further by another 15% (30% total)

The Professional
Basic : Increase stability with supressed weapon by 50%
Aced : Increase accuracy with supressed weapon by 50%

Overkill
Basic : Boost shotgun and saw damage by 75% if the enemy is killed by either one of the weapons for 5 seconds
Aced : The damage boost now spread to other type of weapons, but is still required to start off with shotgun or saws

Gunslinger
Basic : Reload pistols faster by 50%
Aced : Increase pistols damage by 15 (flat value)

Kilmer
Basic : Reload assault rifles and sniper rifles faster by 25%

Pumping iron
Basic : Melee 50% more damage against normal cops
Aced : Melee 50% more damage against special units

Berserker
Basic : Melee damage is increased up to 250% for more health you lost under 25%
Aced : Guns damage is increased up to 100% for more health you lost under 25%

Gruber Kurz


+ The weapons are mediocre, but the awesome part being that the Commando 553 are ready to use at level 0 which means if you do go/went/gone to the infamy you can go out with the strong, high accuracy weapon to kick-start your levels.
+ Gruber Kruz is the secondary pistol that have 30 concealment. And as you know it, more concealment = more stealthy. Combined with Gage Mod Courier can makes a good Plan B sidearm.
+ The maps are all equal in size and length but still varies in environment and can prove challenges and difficulty.


- The Swedish K are locked to fire at full-auto, means you can't percisely aim at something far away. This doesn't really matter anyway since the Swedish K have low fire rate already (600 RPM)
- Commando 553 have the looking-through-the-pin-hole sight. Without the help of optical attachment this will obstruct your view to shoot at other enemies.
- Gruber Kruz have low damage without Gunslinger making a good peashooter.
- As the map are all equal in size and length. Their reward are also equal across, but this varies so much as if the content inside the truck are randomized from jewerlies, money and gold.

+ If you don't have Gage Mod Courier; Eagle Heavy will have the highest damage per shot in the assault rifle group
+ Even that your friend (or some random people in public game) doesn't have this DLC they can still use the Frags if the map provide them to have so. The Frags will come in a package of a blue breifcase which need to be opened and grab each individual frags.
+ Signature .40 is a middle ground pistol. To put this in a better perspective : Weakest pistol < Signature .40 < Strongest pistol. And so it can be useful for both plans.
+ SpecOps is the more accurate Mark 10. This gives more room for you and the bulldozer to shoot at his faceplate without getting harm.
+ A fire selector lock comes with enhanced damage, accuracy and stability.
+ This pack also comes with 2 grips, Straight and Rubber grip. Those 2 grips can be use in CAR variants guns. Rubber grip is a pro grip without the penalty of the pro grip (-1 concealment). Straight grip is a grip that increase concealment by 2. Please note that Eagle Heavy are already equipped with Rubber grip making rubber grip not possible to equip on Eagle Heavy; however, Pro grip can be used on Eagle Heavy but comes with -1 concealment as a penalty to +2 accuracy and stability.


- Frag in Payday 2 are automatically thrown after a button press. Yes, Frags can't be cooked in Payday 2. They also have pre-determined throwing range and strength.
- As the name implies for fire selector lock. It locks your firemode to what you've equipped. The fire selector lock do actually comes with bonus stat to maximize your gun, but it's not a freebie stat you get one you lose some.

+ LMGs (Light Machine Gun) are known for having high capacity giving you more bullet to spray the room without the help of Swan song or Bullet storm.
+ Ghost skills can make LMGs a viable medium to long range gun as The Professional aced improve your accuracy by 50% if a silencer is equipped.
+ The knives can be further upgraded by having Berserker skill and Pumping Iron. In the point that you ran out of bullets, a full charge from a knife can kill a enemy instantly.


- However LMGs can't be aimed down the sight like the one in Payday : The heist. Bullets will kindly spray everywhere in the circular area. This can be further worsen by not equipping the laser sight.
- LMGs are known to have low ammo pick-up rate so simply said : You lose more than You gain, so fire them carefully and don't face up with tasers as they can burn your ammo very quickly until you're downed or interrupted.
- LMGs have low to none concealments. But why would you bring a large gun that can shoot many bullets to stealth?
- Knives uncharged damage are the same with all knives in this pack (15-20). And to maximize damage from a knife you have to charge it up to 2 seconds. (With the exception of Berger combat knife which is 1 second)

- Un-accurate by default

KSP Light Machine Gun

+ Highest ammo capacity among the LMGs (200 bullets)
+ Fastest fire rate among the LMGs
- Lowest damage among the LMGs by default
- Lowest accuracy among the LMGs by default
- Due to it's natural fast fire rate, getting tased is not going to be a good thing. Along with controlling bullet grouping.

Brenner-21 Light Machine Gun

+ Highest accuracy among the LMGs by default
+ Lowest fire rate among the LMGs can help control the grouping of the bullets
- Lowest fire rate among the LMGs can lower its lethalness of the gun

+ Gage Mod Courier is the only DLC that doesn't introduce new weapons, but rather loads of attachment that can be put on most of the guns (this is to prevent sniper getting too OP). Ranging from: Making guns more easier to aim with optics up to upgrading guns without sacrificing important stats of the weapons.
+ If you didn't grab the package you need to complete the set in order to get the attachment you need. Don't worry, if your teammate found one and grab one, you'll get it too.
+ For non-DLCs owner especially this one will receive a small amount of EXP for an effort finding small package hidden around the map.
+ In case that you're color blind and can't see red very well. Gage Mod Courier also comes with 3 different color (Yellow,Green,Blue) and 10 optical reticles. If you don't have this DLC you will still be able to use the first four optic reticles for free of charge.


- Sadly those thing don't drop for free (PAYDAY card flip thing). All of the attachments must be acquired from finding packages in the map with no exception. But although they can be easily noted and marked after passing a heist a lot of times maybe countless.
- The packages are abruptly small, and can be hidden all around the map given the example of: Under the bench, under the mail box, under the table, under the newspapers box, on the roof, etc. However when spotted it will give off a prompt to pick it up, making finding packages easier, but still hard nonetheless.

Thanatos .50 cal Sniper Rifle


+ The main point here is that all sniper can penetrate shields. It'll be quite more useful if tended to mark and shoot first to outline the cop himself hiding behind the shield. Do aim at the head for a guaranteed instant kill (except for rattlesnake). But why not body shot you say? It's not the reason that you play Payday 2 you must headshot every single enemy to make sure it's a quick and clean kill. Every sniper rifle in this pack are confirmed to kill green FBIs in overkill difficulty or lower. Above that, a headshot is a must. Shield is a different case however if the bullet goes through a shield it will receive a massive damage penalty before it can damage the cop behind the shield.
+ Thanatos .50 cal can disregard all of thing damage-penalty-magic above as the sniper rifle itself deals 3000 damage per shot enough to kill a bulldozer in 2 shots without the need to break the face plate (3 in death wish). But why did you put that asterisk behind KO if you say that it will 1 hit KO a bulldozer? This is where skills come into play, Overkill aced, which will punch your Thanatos damage further by 75% (if the kill is started with shotgun first) Silent killer aced will also do a trick but not much of a trick by improving +200 damage as long as the gun is suppressed.
+ R93 is a baseline sniper rifle to cripple every standard cops to specials. Being able to one shot shield if hit in the head and to kill bulldozers in 3 shots. Since this is not Thanatos, a headshot will still be required to kill most of the enemy especially bulldozer.
+ Rattlesnake is the anti cops but not specials where it is viable but not powerful. Being able to shoot fast is one thing the damage is another.
+ The Theia scope will automatically spot everything in your crosshair. Given that the target is: guards walking around undisturbed, any special whatsoever. Letting you free from pressing to spot but that doesn't mean your friends will know that spooky guy is there.
+ All snipers can improve its damage, accuracy and stability by The Professional and Silent Killer. Note that : Both skill must be aced in order to maximized its effect.


- All of the snipers are bolt action meaning that you need to operate the bolt system before you can shoot the next shot. And if having a bolt action rifle is not bad enough you also have low bullet capacity making shots more punishing and less forgiving.
- Attachments and gadgets are there to play. Instead of a drop you need to unlock it by achievements instead. Check the guides to find out how to do them.

- Thanatos is powerful, yes. Doesn't mean you can shoot everyone in the body though.

6. The Big Bank Heist
Biggest map ever (said by overkill themselves) : The Big Bank Heist

1 Weapon


Falcon Rifle


+ They are not wrong about this being the biggest heist in Payday 2. It is pretty big and also pretty hard to stealth, but doesn't mean that is impossible. This DLC gives you ability to solo-stealth with few bots as helpers if you screwed up or go full out in Plan B with 4 crew-mates including yourself.
+ Big Bank shares trait with Harvest & Trustee bank in vanilla game giving that there's boxes to saw and doors to open. Whether you bring saw or not the heist will still provide you with a key to skip the drilling and opening the boxes. You still have to pick-lock the boxes if you don't have a saw though.
+ The heist is given by the dentist which means there's PRE-PLANNING. Thus you're shown a couple, if not, a lot of way to get out and get in. The keys to open doors can be shown through pre-planning, using thermite to get into the vault just like the old days or breaching the wall to the other building to escape.
+ Every loot in the pick-lock boxes are lootable. No more opening boxes just to find out there's a cheese sandwich in a box.
+ Falcon rifle is a bonus in this DLC. It handles the same way with Eagle Heavy from Gage Weapon Pack #01. What makes it different is that the Falcon rifle can be adaptive. In the sense of being modifiable to stealth, assault or even a sniping weapon.


- Big bank is a mix of Bank : Gold and Bank : Money. The values weigh more in harder difficulty and also appears much more. In my playthrough experiences gold and money seems equal and nothing really out-number each other.
- PRE-PLANNING is not free. It handles the same rule with assets only more freedom has been given. Still limited by the thing called "favor" as a in-game pre-planning point to prevent spam and more crucial decision to plan. Getting a easier way in could make a way out much more harder.
- Falcon rifle attachments however are not earned by PAYDAY drops and must be obtained through achievements. Check from the guides to find out how to do them.

- - I make this double cons as a point out to Falcon rifle mods which one of the achievement must be unlocked with 4 players having this DLC wearing different masks. If you do really want to unlock the full potential of this gun you must find 3 other people who have this DLC same as you do.

+ This DLC right here is a game changer from brink of losing to winning in a few shot(gun)s. The shotguns rounds themselves are the game changer and the shotguns are a huge catalyst. Those things will be covered in the weapon review section.
+ M1014 Shotgun are like pump shotguns except it don't pump and can be shot semi-automatically to increase the damage.
+ Raven Shotgun is the middle ground shotgun just like Signature .40. And just for perspective sake : Izhma > Raven > Mosconi.
+ Street Sweeper Shotgun have a high capacity by default without any further attachment a bit larger than a fully modded Locomotive 12G Shotgun, giving you more rounds to fill the room.
+ Melees are balanced between damage and knockdown, and by balance in this term means 2 of them are damage and 2 of them are knockdown.


- Special shotgun rounds have ammo pick up penalty even with enforcer skill (Fully loaded aced). Don't be fooled by the lack of tooltip in flechette rounds the penalty is still there.
- All of the shotgun attachments in this DLC must be unlocked by achievements. Check the guide to find out how to do them.

+ GL-40 return from Payday : The heist and it operate the same way with a bonus of a flip-up sight which can be toggled like laser sight or flashlight.
+ Clarion have RPM of 1000. Can be surprisingly deadly on specials and normal enemies especially bulldozers. You can look at this rifle as a Mark 10 if it was a primary.
+ Gewehr 3 come with its own weapon changing kit where Clarion come with its own suppressor. Gecko got the overall attachments which can be adaptive in any situation.
+ The rifles in this pack are adaptive similar to Falcon rifle in The Big Bank Heist.


- Shooting self with GL-40 hurts. This do applies to friendlies in the explosion range too so be careful with your shots.
+ Clarion and Gecko have awkward sight. Use of optics are recommended.
- 1000 RPM of Clarion rifle can backfire on you if tased by a taser.
- Weapon attachments must be unlocked by achievement. Check out the guide to find out how to do them.

-- And again with this double con mark there's one achievement that unlock the weapon attachment that must be done with other 3 players with this DLC.

- If modded with pirate barrel the flip-up sight is removed

+ Hotline Miami map itself give a feeling of playing Hotline Miami game. You know, go inside a building, shoot russian gangs, get out, that kind of thing. The exp reward at the end of the heist can be increased more (higher than hoxton breakout) by making some meth in the 1st day of the heist, giving you more experience to level up and some money to do things.
+ This DLC pack contain 1 of the strongest melee in the game, The Fire Axe deals 90 damage in 1 swing and can be charged further to 140, if mixed with pumping iron it'll be boosted up to 130/210 respectively, berserker skill increase the damage further for more lower health you have up to blank circle in your health.
+ The guns have specific power in each role. Cobra for stealth, Blaster 9mm for stealth and assault, and Uzi for assault. Maximizing their power in their certain role can be very effective.
+ This heist is given by the dentist so there's pre-planning, again.


- Day 2 of this heist can be difficult on high difficulty. Let me give you a scope if you're going to buy this DLC, You run up to the top floor of the apartment where the "commissar" locked himself in the vault the area you're fighting in is that rooftop area. The cops spawn from the roof, side of the roof, skylight, basically everywhere.
- Pre-planning is good, but not for this map. It's not strong as it should be like the other dentist's job, so simply there's only just item placement with favor as a limit.
- Weapons are specified in their role. Changing their supposed-to-be-this does not work really well for example: Cobra submachine gun have very high concealment but very low damage. Equipping fire breather nozzle just make it up to par with other default damage smgs.
- Weapons modifications must be unlocked through achievement. Check out the guide to find out how to do them.

- - And yes, again. double cons means there's 1 achievement that must be unlocked with other 3 people with this DLC just to unlock a weapon attachment. Surprisingly the attachments are stealth based.

This is a bayonet (not a knife). It increase melee damage on weapon butt. Can only be put on Nagant Sniper Rifle only.


+ This DLC features a type of weapon in Gage Weapon Pack #02 and Gage Sniper Pack. So there's a Sniper and a Light Machine Gun in 1 DLC.
+ Trench knife is a high damage per second melee making a good melee spam machine just to kill many cops in single area.
+ The theia scope in Gage Sniper Pack can be put on Nagant Sniper Rifle.
+ Buzzsaw 42 is an extremely high fire rate light machine gun faster than Clarion or KSP, and is too a good bulldozer shreader in close combat fight.
+ Patchett L2A1 have the highest damage per shot submachine gun in the game while Broomstick pistol is placed in the medium-high grade pistol further than the Signature .40.
+ Nagant Sniper Rifle looks like a step-up of R93. But its concealment can be matched up to the highest bonus of Low Blow aced with some help of the mods.
+ The looks of guns can deceive people who purchased this DLC to think that it's not adaptable, but guess what, it is adaptable and suitable to any play-style.


- Buzzsaw 42 have extremely high fire rate, yes. Don't forget that taser loves high fire rate and a high capacity gun.
- Nagant is a step-up from R93. Some stats are upgraded and downgraded to fit the old-time sniper theme, and since it's a old-time sniper its reload are also long timed by using a clip fed system instead of a mag fed. This trait shared to Broomstick pistol but can be fixed with Gunslinger basic for pistols and Kilmer basic for rifles.
- Patchett L2A1 have high damage but fires very slowly even with SMG specialist 20% boost. Pistols are an alternative choice as the Patchett L2A1 do also have the pin-hole sight just like Commando 553 making more harder to aim at targets. To make it very worse, the more you shoot with Patchett L2A1 automatically, the more gun animation recoil kicks up and distract your aim really badly.
- Weapons specific attachments must be unlocked through achievement, again. Check out the guide to find out how to do them.

- - But it can't be very complete without 1 more achievement that requires 3 people with this DLC to unlock certain weapon attachments.

+ If you're a stealth heist based player of the Payday 2 this DLC is quite challenging just for a giant big blue diamond in the deep (not really) dark vault inside the museum, and no, the vault isn't filled with lasers and all that just for the sake of the easiness of the game. The reward just for a diamond is better than expected but not that much after all that stealth (or assault, any style you want) that's why they give you glass cutter to cut glass to get more money and loot if you want.
+ Heist given by the dentist = Pre-planning


- Pre-planning in The Diamond Heist isn't that exciting, really. It's again done in the same way like Hotline Miami DLC. Only 1 way to get in and get out, but if you failed the stealth mid-way through the van will escape and you have to wait for minutes to get the heli to pick you up. Note that the heli will not pick you up unless you get the diamond out first no matter how much loot you have. Too much loot in heli will also cause heli to escape and un-pack the loot at home before it can come back to pick you or the loots up making it harder for completion-ist to complete.
- This heist is just for fun and challenging, but not as much as rewarding like Hoxton Breakout and Hotline Miami.
- This is the DLC pack that doesn't feature specific weapon for the heist.

+ Burglar Perk Deck is a perk suited directly for stealthing. It contains bonus such as : Answer pager faster,Bag corpses faster, pick-lock faster, etc. While it's very stealth based and if everything goes out of plan you still have chance to survive by standing still and crouching.
+ Quuen's Wrath Rifle is JP36 but stronger and better in any way whatsoever and can even be concealed more without losing potentials. Clover's Shillelagh is a by-product of Ding Dong Breaching Tool and Baseball Bat.
+ Clover is a woman.


- In my opinion, Clover is unpredictable and also random. Gone quiet and a bit crazy in non-assault and stealth, Screaming-like-no-tomorrow in assault. She just screams a lot in hot combat, but it's a video game and if you can't stand that do not expect a surprisingly silent killer woman character in here.
- Queen's Wrath Rifle have higher spread (not accuracy) while moving, higher than CAR-4. Standing still with this rifle is a way to go, but while moving it would differ a bit but not much. The reload time without Kilmer basic is long, do find cover before you reload.
- Clover is a woman.
