Warframe is apparently a very good free to play game if you wanted to experience so-called "ninja simulator in space" then this would be the game you're looking for. For the 3000+ hours I myself put into this game just like any other games that you guys wanted to play as long as possible, and I can say so myself before I put good things about this game into this review just so you can foresee what's coming next when you start playing this game.
First of all, the game is grindy and requires "time" in order to progress most of the part in this game. Believe me when I already put three thousands hours into this game. So if you don't have time to spend in this game as much as anyone else like any other MMOs then I sugguest that you should absolutely look on to the other games. (No seriously, just look for something else)
If the paragraph above did not persuade you as much then I can say so myself that you have found one of the game that are worth putting your time in as much as possible just to "git-good" in this game. Think of it as arena shooter mixed with RPG elements to make up for Warframe.

Movements :
Despite that this game does not run in source or quake engine, but if you're fond of arena shooter which are quite fast (or normally paced depends on your perspective on gaming) you should find yourself adapting to the movement system (parkour 2.0) within a short time span.

Gun/Melee-play :
Firearms in this game is what you can expect from generic shooters mixed up with some RPG elements (crits/status/projectile/hitscan/etc.) and
Melees is what you're looking at nowadays hack-and-slash with some (but not much) combo system which can be earned through mods.
There are many types of firearms and melee ranging from a pistol to a rocket launcher, from a dagger to a greatsword, you "technically" name it, it would be in the game for sure.
Overall it's good on both, but as of now if you joined in the lobby with certain MR level and higher you would see mostly a single type of weapon more than expected which is expected in this kind of game.
Hoping to see diversities? It is there, but faded out through the end-game to favor the meta.
I know rivens are trying to fix that, and it also cause quite an upsurge in the beginning. I will still keep a watch on this until it turn to a new direction

Characters (Warframes) :
Warframe is in the range of MOBAs types of abilities. 4 skills with an exception of "no cooldown" cited by the devs so that Warframes could be Warframe as of is today. The newer frames (shortened writing of "Warframe(s)" and reworked one are more based to synergy so prepare to combo skills more often when you're going to play this game (alone or with friends).

The reason where loot and currency is not in the gameplay section is that I wanted to talk something about this to clear up some questions and how pros&cons at one of the core part of the game.

Loot :
It is an action rpg shooter. You kill enemies, and you expect it to drop items just like in any other RPG games. It actually keep you to keep playing this game to further find things that you don't have. But sometimes this game like to go far on some cases for example, a stance, remember I've said something about combo system earlier? Well, you can only use a real combo after you earned a stance, and sometimes the one that are actually good or newer ones that are added in the update barely drops at all. Also the primes (the better varaints of the original model) have 3 RNGs steps to be exact here's the scenario,
1) Get the relic of the primes you wanted to get, but
2) It doesn't always drop the one that you really need (If you're a newer player I guess this does not really concern you just because you wanted all of them. In my case it is quite a hefty experience)
3) After you obtain the relic you must fight with another RNG in order to get the loot (which are weighted, but can be improved by a RNG-lessener)
All of the steps above can be eased up to 4 times by having 3 more friends/players in your group, but as you know you're not your friends and they cannot be there at all times which is an obstacle for solo players (like myself). Don't (really) expect yourself to play alone to get really what you wanted otherwise you'll hit a very big grind wall.
The devs are expecting you to play this game casually (hell, even I am trying to shift myself into that section), but once in a while this breaks up and community complains for quite a bit that is also a harsh truth if you're willing to play this game.

Currency :
Just like any other F2P games, there's a premium currency to fuel their games. You can use this premium currency to : rush a crafted item,purchase an item/weapon/warframe,cosmetics,mods,etc.
You may look at this as a very bad intention to make people purchase more premium currency, but as an oversight of this game, most of the premium parts of this game are free with exception of some cosmetics which are only purchasable through premium currency. The constaint of "free" is hanged upon "time" where you wanted free premium items, but doesn't want to spend any money on it, this games provides that too only if you wait and play the game just like any other players would do so. It will come "eventually" which is quite a downer for some group of players.
Remember that grind wall that I've said earlier? It can also be removed with premium currency, or you can also casually play the game until you eventually get an item you needed.
If you take a look at the current situation, hema, an AR which requires 5000ea of rare resources which drops 1-2 at a time. Or you can skip all that farming (with your friends or without of course) with 225 platinum. Which seems like a very big gap in the community.

P.S. : As most of the free to play games out there, yes there's a premium currency in this game too, and no, you do not require them (if most) at all in order to unlock some "premium" progress in this game. Most of the paid things in this game is mostly cosmetics, only do so if you want fashion for you and your friend's need.
