Expanded NPC Ships

Description
IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!!!
This mod is not compatible with VoidExpanse v1.4. It was reuploaded to be harmless, so it doesn't do anything but allows you to load the savegames created with this mod.

-------------------------------
Description:
--------------------------------

UPDATE
This mod now adds more than just some variety to the traders, but also adds faction patrols!

!!--
This mod is developed for version 1.21 of VoidExpanse, and may be
incompatible with any older or newer versions of the game.
!!--

Adds variety to the NPCs flying around the VoidExpanse.
This mod allows other mods to utilise this feature.

--------------------------------
Detailed Description:
--------------------------------

This mod changes the script for how traders are spawned from the
hardcoded freighter to a randomly picked npc using a similar algorithm
to how Pirates are picked. This allows traders to fly more ships than
just the Freighter hull.

Also, the same is done for faction "patrols" who wander the galaxy, they
will only spawn in their factions territory, or neutral territory. The
ships used by these patrols is also picked in the same way.

Other modders can add their custom hulls to the list that these NPCs spawn in.

On its own, this mod adds a chance for traders to spawn in an Endeavor hull,
Order patrols to spawn in a Fang, Freedom patrols to spawn in a Stingray, and
Fanatics patrols to spawn in an Avalanche Mk II.

Info for modders
-----------------------------------------------

To utilise this mod, all you need to do is create an npc (data/npcs) similar to the
human_tradership, and put this code inside the data tag:

<!-- special info for automatic spawning -->
<spawning>
<tags>trader</tags> <!-- trader, OrderPatrol, FreedomPatrol, FanaticsPatrol -->
<level_from>0</level_from>
<level_to>100</level_to>
<max_in_group>0</max_in_group>
<chance>75</chance> <!-- chance that the NPC will spawn in this hull -->
</spawning>

Simple as that. If the mod user doesn't have this mod installed, they won't see the
NPCs, but it won't break their game.

Flessen added me to the contributors list and I've reuploaded the mod.
Now you should have no problem running the game with this mod with VoidExpanse v1.4+.

I get a local server fatal error when trying to load this mod.

That's definately on my todo list. I need to poke around at the AI and see what I can do.

It's cool!If we can release the fighting between the best alliance.

thanks for the update, saw the spinny loop and remembered seeing a patch fix for the droplists which probably threw your mod into a bind.

Thanks for the update :D

And yea, it actually did sell it for me. I've been very....very cautious of new indie games these last several months. I've gotten a slew of games that got abandoned shortly after release; even after what seemed like a week of super frequent updates.

I guess the other part that sold me was the mod freedom the devs offered for this game. So even if they did abandon it.....I could fix it up msyelf if need be.

Took a while, but I found the problem!
Updated as promised.
Honestly, just the responsiveness of the devs alone would have sold the game to me.

I sympathize with your plight, ha. But at least we can say things like "gosh...the devs update too frequently" in jest / frustration when needing to update mods. Some games don't get that luxury.

It's a challenge to keep up with the devs!
I'll get a fix underway

Confirme the mod is not loading correctly anymore.
