How to become Holy Emperor of the Reformed Orthodox Faith
Play as a Byzantine Emperor and choose Theology Focus. Gather 750 piety and 1500 prestige - and reform the faith.

Appoint a Co-emperor
You can appoint a close relative to the position of Co-emperor. Unlike a minor title this is a real title to be held. With Open Succession appointing someone Co-emperor will bump up their prestige and power making them the most likely heir. Simply navigate to the character, right click portrait and choose "Make Co-emperor".

Imperial Order of the Holy Emperor
A powerful army that only costs piety to raise. It cannot be created if Varangian Guard is vassal due the religious tensions that would spark since the Varangians were (initially) norse heathens. If you have formed the varangian guard simply grant them independence and form the order when you have met the requirements (piety, prestige, wealth).

Religious Imprisonment
Religious Laws can be enacted after sending a warning to all Orthodox Characters in the realm. Enacting 'Religious Courts (Minimal Religious Law) allows for Religious Imprisonment of all characters of other faith than Reformed Orthodox. Characters without land can be executed without penalty. Note that it costs 50 piety to imprison them - there is no minimum piety to act but if you get too much negative piety your faith can become a heresy! Choose wisely

Support War Effort
Send independent rulers an army of religious volunteers to help their war effort

Slavery
With the religious laws enacted and the religious prisoners in the dungeon you can sell them as slaves to a foreign court. If the prisoner holds a title you need to get rid of that first before being able to sell him.

Declare Orthodox Faith a heresy
2-step decision will render all orthodox followers heretics.

Other Notes
When your character reforms the faith he will be given a trait called "Founder". This event will also give all children of the Founder a trait called "Apogonos" (descendant). This is an agnatic trait which means it will be passed down through males to all children, creating a bloodline effect. This trait will also be instrumental in events in later updates.

For those having issues downloading the mod, I've just found that having more than 50 mods seems to be a common problem. Steam has a hard limit of 50 before it stops bothering to download any new ones. So check your subscriptions, reduce the number to 50 or less, then see if it worked.
