Athens-Class Admiral's Flagship

Description
WARNING: In-world instructions for firing main missiles not yet added. DO NOT turn on Block Group "Arm Missiles" if the missiles are not extended from the main body of the ship.
EDIT: Well, my computer just died on me, and I don't know how well my local save file holds up. In the meantime, here's the launch procedure for the main missiles:
1. Open the missile bay doors and extend the missiles. Reverse the relevant block groups from a control panel or Pilot's Station. This used to be available from a button panel, but in the latest version has to be done manually because of a problem with the right missile.
2. Turn on the Block Group(s) called "Arm Missile Left/Right" to activate the impact sensor.
3. Turn off the blocks in the "Release Missile Left/Right" Block Groups.
4. The missiles can now be operated from any Pilot's Seat using the Remote Control like you would any remote controlled ship. Each missile also have a camera if you need it, but remember that controls are different when using a camera.
Note 1: Due to general glitchiness and/or odd behaviour, the Self Destruct System, the Escape Pod Warning Systems (but not the escape pods themselves or the launch systems) and the rotors in the Mini Fighter Bay (if you are experienced with malfunctioning rotors, please send the author a message if you find a solution to... well, you will see if you activate the group "Fighter Rotors") have been disabled for the time being.
Note 2: May cause framerate or physics issues on some computers. The Prisoner Disposal System in the Brig Emergency Panel is particularly prone to destroying everything in a fifty meter radius. It is recommended that you raise the access bridge and evacuate non-essential teammates from the room before engaging.

At almost 350 meters long, the Athens is a lumbering giant fit for being a centerpiece in the fleet of any self-respecting Galactic Empire and/or Republic. Designed to act as a Command & Control central in deep space battles, the Athens is equipped with both an indoor hangar for boarding or transport shuttles, as well as an external landing platform designed to handle everything from fighters to frigates. In addition it has an extra fighter bay on the top deck carrying a contingent of four single-use fighters for emergency events, and in the stern of the ship the brig for captured enemies can be ejected to create an extra landing bay.

The Athens is not designed for mid-range battleship broadside combat, as its handful of missile batteries are located at the front of the ship, and because most non-essential sections are only lightly armoured. Ideally, when faced with another capital ship, the captain will engage at close or long range, covering the flanks of the Athens with smaller ships while using the two remote controlled capital ship missiles to punch holes in the opposing ship that can be exploited by boarders. To effectively use the missiles it is recommended that the Athens is manned by at least two people so a designated gunner can control the missiles from the gunnery posts on the lowest deck. While weak when faced with sustained missile barrages or capital ship ramming, the vast size and numerous backup systems of the Athens generally means it can shrug off damage from fighters or more concentrated heavy weaponry such as asteroid-slinging gravity guns.

The Athens also features a number of less combat-oriented features. Every single system in front of the indoor hangar is connected to an advanced resource distribution system that connects every inventory in this area. It can be fed from the Fore Cargo Room or at the indoor landing pad. In addition, most systems behind the indoor hangar are connected to a secondary system that can be fed from the exterior landing area. The reason for the separate systems is so the front of the ship can remain functional even if the ship is split in half from ramming or missiles, separating it from the Main Generator Area in the upper levels of the Brig. Further features include an advanced gravity-based escape pod system for up to six people (activate using the buttons in the Escape Pod Room, then enter the pod directly across from the blinking timer block and turn off landing gear when the first timer stops blinking), a self-destruct system designed to kill everyone on board in two minutes, a near-inescapable cell in the Brig that can be launched into space, and of course lots of walkways for your henchman of choice to have climactic battles with the forces of Good on.

Lovingly crafted by committed artisans over the course of several months without the use of Symmetry Mode and manually sawing down extra blocks, the Athens has incorporated the newest technology as construction has moved along. Cygnus Spaceflight Solutions proudly presents this epitome of craftsmanship.
