Habits, Poetry, and Nuyen

Description
Luca Duerr has contracted you for a mission--a "trial run."

You need the money. What's a runner to do?
========================================

Hello, and welcome to my workshop page!

This is my first UGC, a simple three-scene module about infiltrating a double-AA corp called Blackwater; a mission given by everyone's favorite Mr. Johnson, Luca Duerr. Inspired by the missions "Earwig" and "Trial Run" in Dragonfall's campaign. Tailored to smooth talking, intelligent, charismatic deckers.

So, what is "Habits, Poetry, and Nuyen?"

-FEATURES A REACTIVE NPC THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BETRAY YOU
-MULTIPLE ENDINGS
-MULTIPLE WAYS TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS

The NPC: Mokie Howler

How to Piss Him Off:

-Dig into his backstory. Like, really *dig.*
-Blow your cover.
-Make *the* decision.

Of course, he's not guaranteed to betray you. Above all, I hope you have fun with my humble little module!
=========================================

UPDATE 2.0

YOU NO LONGER HAVE TO ROLL A DECKER TO COMPLETE THIS UGC; MOKIE HOWLER CAN NOW BE USED TO DECK INTO THE MATRIX.

UPDATE 2.2

Resolved game-breaking bugs; resolved issue with spells.

Follow-up: Some basic poking around reveals that the character's biotech must be *equal* to 1 in order to use said dialogue.

Again, that doesn't seem right to me.

Besides that (and the fact the gunfight can get a little tough, though that could just be RNG), I liked the module. Was like a little rehash of Trial Run.

I gave my character Biotech 2 on character creation. I can't pass a Biotech 1 check.

Something about that doesn't seem quite right.

If you exit the first password-protected door interface without typing in the password, it stays locked permanently.

This is a nice short campaign, can't complain aside from the one glitch I encountered. It's got a few goodies in it depending on what etiquettes you choose. Definitely would be a good setup for a future story. My only real criticism is that if you decide to roll an adept, the equipment you're given at the beginning isn't really conducive to the build unless you dump all your points into willpower and qi casting which if you're a melee player kinda requires strength and close combat to make effective. Nice job though!

Bug report here, if you exit from trying to interact with the door using the BOYGHOST passcode you cannot re interact with the door.

any activiy on this mod? I'm less than 5 minutes in and my character with a starting CHA of 4 doesn't have the CHA 3 option to negotiate for 7000 Y???

Hello everyone! I'm pleased to announce that I've created a small publishing company called Better Futures Press! Our first publication will be Black Ice: a speculative fiction / cyberpunk magazine, available through MagCloud and Amazon late February / early March, 2017. In it, you'll find 15 stories, artwork, and interviews with upcoming writers and established editors in the field.

Our Kickstarter is now LIVE! I invite all of you to check it out and donate if you can. Thank you all in advance for spreading the word and being awesome in general. If you have any questions, shoot me a message! We look forward to reading your submissions.

*Mild spoilers. You have been warned.*

Fun and polished... BUT, alas.

If the run is tailored for a decker, making an crew-npc a decker sort of kills the concept. As a starting character, the player's decker is going to be equipped worse than the npc. As an effect after ten minutes I'm feeling my character is tagging along with tank npcs, who are actually well fleshed out and cool and all, but steal the show.

Which may be fun for some, but I - strictly personally - would have liked my "decker run" to be tailored for a decker character. It's fine that it limits the build choice, "Jacked Up" had that and was great.

Any chance to get the no-npc decker version back up? Guessing not, but why the hell not ask :)

Good effort. Cheers.

Wow, very high quality mission. A lot of these custom stories are very long and a result, you get quantity over quality. Quality over quantity is always better. It was well balanced, had good dialouge, and it was glitch free. Neat little story too, and I thought it was cool how there were multiple ways to achieve your goals. That's my favorite thing about RPG's.

@Zazzle Haha, unfortunately for me it was simply an oversight. I've fixed it now and it should be working properly.
