Spy sappin' yer sentries? Boy have we got a gun for you.

A jury-rigged solution contrived from the pure frustration of a thousand sapped buildings, the Sap Zapper is sure to knock their socks off. Or yours. With 5000 volts of electricity, or with joy, respectively.

Q: Why is it called the Sap Zapper?

A: Please note that this idea does not necessarily go hand-in-hand with the gun, it is simply the idea we had initially to make this weapon. The stats are obviously up to Valve, and it can be used as anything. That said, here's the idea.

Imagine this: It's a cold day on cp_coldfront. You've just built a level 2 sentry at the forward base, now you're going to refill on metal with a nearby ammo pack. But wait- the unmistakable stench of a Spy is in the air! You turn around to see your sentry being sapped in the distance. Bolting toward the unfortunate building at sub-scout speeds, you pull out your wrench and- It's too late. Sentry down. "Dag nabbit damnit!"

Had you equipped the Sap Zapper, the pesky sapper could have been destroyed from a distance. Designed to fire electrical darts that remove sappers from friendly buildings, the Sap Zapper is perfect for keeping your Sentry safe from hit-and-run Spies.


Q: How is this balanced gameplay?

A: Consider the Rescue Ranger. This shotgun allows you to repair and move your buildings from a distance, and is balanced by making it a less combat effective primary weapon. To balance the Sap Zapper, it would have a few debuffs such as smaller clip size, slower firing speed, slower reload time, less extra ammo, etc. (Besides, we've all been in that situation where a persistent spy can stick around to finish the job, despite the engineer flailing around with their wrench.) The idea is to present an interesting new gameplay dynamic that also forces you to be less combat effective. A loadout of both the Rescue Ranger and the Sap Zapper would mean you could tend to your buildings from a distance, while putting yourself at higher risk from enemies when away from your sentry.

Q: How long did it take to make this?

A: Very.
