Description:
With this mod you can retire those court position holders who have the Infirm trait. They will be removed from their other positions at no cost to you (free revoke cost).

At first I restricted it only to court position holders, but I've now changed it so that any courtier with the Infirm trait can be appointed to the Retiree position. One reason I did this is there may be instances where a court position holder lost their position but you want to retire them (or re-retire them). This way you don't need to appoint them to a position (which may now be held by someone else), in order to then retire them.

So to be eligible for retirement, courtiers must:
  • Have the infirm trait
  • Not be a vassal of you
  • Not be in prison

To be able to offer retirement you:
  • Must be landed or hold an estate (basically, if you can hire a Seneschal, you can retire people)

Retiree position task(s):
  • Keep an Ear to the Ground - This is similar to the Food Taster's task, only weaker and also costing gold as well as prestige. I did try to tie this to their intrigue skill, but I don't think this is possible unless the position's aptitude itself was tied to intrigue. This seems to be true based on all the other positions I've looked at, however if anyone knows if this is possible, please let me know.

Other details:
  • Each retiree gives you +0.1 Legitimacy per month (this is the same amount that a Seneschal with a Terrible aptitude provides, in case you were wondering / thought this was too high.)
  • There's currently a maximum of 5 Retiree positions available.
  • Aptitude is always Excellent (by design). It's tied to the Infirm trait.
  • You can appoint retiree's to other positions (see feedback section below).

Feedback:
I welcome your ideas on how to make the mod better. At the moment this is a pretty basic mod. There isn't any automation or events related to retirement. I've also intentionally allowed retiree's to still be appointed to other positions after they've retired, so I've left that to the player to decide if they want to do that. I can think of some reasons why you might want to. The AI shouldn't hire them for other positions since they're infirm.

Some ideas I have:
  • A popup when someone eligible in your court receives the Infirm trait, allowing you to retire them or not.
  • Possibly allowing courtiers with the "Incapable" trait or "Old Age" (I think that's what it's called) modifier to retire, but I need to research them a bit more.
  • Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm sure there were rare cases where characters lost the Infirm trait. This could possibly serve as a "I want to come back to work" decision.
  • Maybe an additional task where retiree's could help with tutoring.
