The Hotarumaru (蛍丸; "Firefly") is named after an ōdachi (Japanese greatsword) forged by Rai Kunitoshi (来国俊) and is an Important Cultural Property of Japan.

The name came from a legend that one night flaws on the blade were repaired by fireflies. Your crew will find no trouble repairing the sturdy hull of the ship which shares its name.

Unlike its history, the Hotarumaru prefers to retreat to the safety of the dark, and thus has a Silent Running feature for your convienence.
