RSB Light Fire Fighting Vehicle - UMM Alter [Vehicle + Prop]

On the morning of August 25th, 1988, a massive fire broke out in Lisbon’s Chiado district. The blaze devastated much of the area, destroying numerous historic buildings.

In the aftermath, an important question emerged: What if the fire had occurred in one of Lisbon’s older neighboorhoods, such as Alfama or Bairro Alto, where the narrow medieval streets would have made it impossible for standard firefighting vehicles to reach the flames.

To address this concern, a new vehicle was developed for the Regiment of Sapper Firefighters of Lisbon (RSB). It was a compact fire engine, specially designed for tight urban areas and built on the chassis of the Portuguese 4x4, UMM Alter.

As far as I’m aware, the RSB received two of these vehicles, but as of 2025, none of them are still in service.

This Cities Skylines asset is a faithful recreation of that vehicle.

Na manhã de 25 de agosto de 1988, deflagrou um grande incêndio no Chiado, em Lisboa. O incêndio devastou grande parte do bairro, destruindo inúmeros edifícios históricos.

Após a tragédia, surgiu de imediato a pergunta: E se o incêndio tivesse ocorrido num dos bairros mais antigos de Lisboa, como Alfama ou o Bairro Alto, onde as ruas estreitas medievais teriam impossibilitado o acesso dos veículos de bombeiros.

Como resposta a esta preocupação, foi projetado um novo veículo para o Regimento de Sapadores Bombeiros de Lisboa (RSB). A viatura era compacta, ideal para áreas urbanas estreitas, e construída sobre a plataforma do todo-terreno português UMM Alter.

Tanto quanto sei, o RSB recebeu duas destas viaturas, mas nenhuma delas se encontra atualmente em serviço.
