Description
The Campaign

Welcome to “Turning Point North Sea”, a continuously expanding campaign that places you in the role of a commander of the German Navy. With each new mission, you will be drawn into complex maritime operations that will test your tactical skill and decision-making.

The campaign will be regularly expanded with new missions, further intensifying the geopolitical situation. Your decisions will shape the course of the story and determine how the tensions in the North Sea unfold.

At certain points, it may be necessary to accelerate mission progress to maintain pacing.

The author has placed great emphasis on making the scenarios as realistic as possible. However, to enhance gameplay, certain creative liberties — such as the inclusion of futuristic units — have been intentionally applied.

Political Situation

In 1991, a socialist revolution took place in Norway, aligning the country more closely with the Soviet Union. Shortly thereafter, Norway and the USSR intensified their cooperation to secure control over the North Sea oil fields. This development met with strong opposition from Western nations and oil corporations, which saw their economic interests in the region threatened.

Over the following years, tensions grew as the Soviet Union and Norway increased their military presence in the area, while Western powers sought to maintain their influence. The conflict over oil resources escalated steadily, with both sides preparing for possible military confrontation. On the brink of open warfare, the opposing forces stood at the threshold of a military conflict in the North Sea — one that could drastically alter the geopolitical balance in Europe.

Situation and Mission

Operation Order: Baltic Shield
Date/Time/Location: 26.08.1994 – 04:01 hrs / Baltic Sea

Situation
a. General: The amphibious landing operation in Norway was repelled by Russian and Norwegian forces. The North and Baltic Seas now separate the opposing sides. Enemy forces currently control all of Scandinavia.

b. Current: In recent nights, repeated Russian cruise missile strikes have occurred on German territory during the early morning hours.

c. Own Forces: Task group consisting of F215 Brandenburg and F216 Schleswig-Holstein (built 1994, fully operational).

Mission
With F215 and F216, monitor the airspace, detect and intercept enemy cruise missiles, and prevent the destruction of Naval Air Base Rostock-Laage. Preservation of the task group takes priority.

Execution
The operation is to be conducted defensively. Only clearly identified hostile threats are to be engaged. In the event of contact with superior enemy forces, disengage and withdraw in an orderly manner. Objective: protect Naval Air Base Rostock-Laage while ensuring both frigates remain intact.

Security / Restrictions
ROE: strictly defensive; positive identification required. Loss of a frigate must be avoided under all circumstances.
