Reinforce Monsters

Description
Mod Description

• In Apprentice dungeons, monsters appear with Veteran-tier stats.
• In Veteran dungeons, monsters appear with Champion-tier stats.
• In Champion dungeons, monsters are far stronger than before.
• In the Darkest Dungeon, monsters are even more powerful than ever.

There are countless mods for Darkest Dungeon,
but the most enjoyable part, for me, has always been inviting powerful and beautiful heroes into the Hamlet.

However, they are often so powerful that, from the monsters’ perspective, they’re simply unfair.
At some point, inviting such strong heroes just stopped being fun.

Concept & Intention

That’s why I made this mod.
At first, I simply increased monster stats —
but that quickly became another kind of boredom.

I then tried various difficulty mods,
but when using multiple mods together, there were often conflicts or compatibility issues.
More importantly, the power gap between modded heroes was simply too vast
their strength could be compared to a range from ants to humans.
This mod also couldn’t perfectly define a “proper” difficulty level within that spectrum,
but it aims for the middle ground
a state where a reasonable sense of tension is maintained throughout battle.

Features

• Focused on maximum compatibility with other mods.
• Adjusts only monster stats, skills, and certain animations.
• Everything else — rewards, items, quirks, and hero stats — remains untouched.
• Rewritten effect commands maintain original values despite stronger effects.

Champion Difficulty

• HP about +80%
• Dodge and all resistances about +15%
• Accuracy about +15%, Damage about +30%, Crit about +6%
• Some monsters act twice, or gain extra turns under certain conditions.
• May perform multi-target attacks or grant party-wide buffs.
• Status effects have greater potency and chance.

Darkest Dungeon & DLC

Darkest Dungeon
• HP about +100%
• Dodge and all resistances about +20%
• Accuracy about +20%, Damage about +50%, Crit about +8%
• Far stronger effects than Champion-level enemies.

Crimson Court & The Color of Madness
• HP about +80%
• Dodge about +15%, Stun Resist about +20%
• Accuracy about +17.5%, Damage about +50%, Crit about +8%
• Designed to be harder than Champion, but easier than Darkest difficulty.

Boss Changes

Without drastically altering their original mechanics,
each boss now features new gimmicks that can be countered through information obtainable within the game.

Brigand Vvulf – no longer protects allies; instead, is protected by them.
The Flesh – healing now removes Bleed and Blight.
Darkest Dungeon 3Blight cannot be cured (requires camping or Antivenom).
Countess – certain skills now inflict Crimson Curse and accelerate its effect.

Other surprises are for you to discover.

Final Words

This mod was made to provide a balanced sense of tension and challenge
for players who use multiple hero mods.

It’s not about making allies explode or enemies vanish at a glance —
it’s about letting monsters resist and fall naturally.

Depending on your setup, the difficulty may feel too high or too low.
In that case, try adding or removing mods to adjust it yourself.

You can challenge it with vanilla heroes if you’d like,
but it might be wise to be ready to turn back time.

If feedback leans too much toward being either too easy or too difficult, I’m open to making adjustments.
