Description
RimworldLaserCannon
This mod adds a long range turret to the game.

Features
  • Turret fires 1 high powered beam, over walls and roofs but NOT over "thick roofs" (Simulating that it's ontop of a building for the turret but that it's not high over a mountain etc.)
  • Charging animation before firing
  • Requires battery power to fire, no ammunition but make sure you have enough power !
  • Lots of values for the turret configurable in settings to tune to how balanced you want it to be
  • Intercept incoming mortar shells and rockets (also configurable in the mod settings)
  • Counts as a wall, both for Gravship reasons (It's airtight !) and for mounting things to it e.g. Wall Lights etc.


Mod Compatibility
The interception logic is the main thing that will need to be integrated, for now it will intercept anything hostile that has the "flyOverhead" value (which should be all modded shells) and any projectile with the word "rocket" or "missile" in the name, which will hopefully catch a lot of other things.

  • None yet !


The Point Of This Mod
Part of a series of mods I've had for myself for a while that have either terrible graphics (that's not going to be fixed, unless someone gives me some better art to put in) or were atrociously balanced (So I've added the settings page)

Future Plans
  • None, this is complete for me so probably won't be adding anything unless someone gives me a really good idea.

Thank you so much for your wonderful mod. This is the best laser security mod in my mod list. Would you please help to make this laser cannon be able to shoot enemy drop pods as well?

The first one I’ve already done in my WallDefences mod

The second one is a cool idea I’ll have to see if I can figure a way to get the continuous beam firing

Always a sucker for a massive laser, i'm certainly adding it to my defence... Couple ideas for you tho.

First, A less focused laser that's less damage but causes fire on the target/around the target.

Second, an option for the damage of the laser to start low but ramps up the longer it's continuously firing the laser at the same target requiring more and more power, maybe even risking explosions and fire around the laser if it ramps up too much (having an in game option to add the ceiling of how high it can go off, like the same buttons for controlling temp. Obviously with a "Overcharge" button removing the limit because it'd be funny).

Sweet. I love that the settings are configurable.
