This mod supports both Korean and English.

Hello to all Civilization 5 players. This is Modern Side Park.

Actually, this mod is a port of Broadway from Civilization 4 to Civilization 5. However, as you may already know, Broadway already exists in Civilization 5, so I changed the name and description to West End of London, which is the UK's representative theater district, before uploading.

West End of London: The city where this Wonder is built gains +10% Culture. +2 Great Musician Points per turn. A Great Musician instantly appears near the city. Provides 5 copies of the Luxury Resource Hit Musicals.

I check for bugs before uploading, but if you find any bugs, please leave a comment.

I would appreciate it if you enjoy using this mod. Thank you always.

@Modern Side Park Oh, I'm glad that I could help. Thank you for your kind words and keep up the good work!

@The Lord Of Drinks Thank you so much for your comment! What you said — "perhaps you could change the type of Hit Musicals from luxury to strategic or remove their happiness bonus to make the AI refuse the trade so the problem won't occur?" — was actually a huge help.

I looked into how strategic resources work and found the AITradeModifier field. So I went ahead and set it to -100 to make sure the AI wouldn't favor trading it at all (at least, unless I'm misunderstanding something). Because of that, I think the issue you were worried about probably won’t happen. Or if it does happen somehow, maybe someone else can give advice later and I’ll try to fix it then. so, I just updated this part, by the way.

Anyway, thank you again — really appreciate you taking the time to kindly respond to my comment even though I’m sure you’re busy!

@Modern Side Park Unfortunately, I have no idea how to solve this. As I've said, I don't even know if AI would agree to that deal at all (Hit Musicals in exchange for one of their luxury). Maybe what I said won't be a problem at all? If this theoretical issue happens, perhaps you could change the type of Hit Musicals from luxury to strategic or remove their happiness bonus to make the AI -refuse the trade so the problem won't occur? I wish I could help you more but I'm not a modder, just a guy that loves playing Civ V. You're probably much more knowledgeable than me in this topic. Even if you don't fix it, it is no problem. I mean, it's at most 20 extra happiness, not 100 or something. Notre Dame already gives 10 happiness in the base game, so 20 happiness could not be that bad, I hope. Thanks for taking the time to investigate this topic.

@The Lord Of Drinks Oh... I see now. You took that into consideration and told me about it. I just thought that adjusting the happiness level would solve the problem. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Um... if you don’t mind, could I ask you something? The reason I set the number of Hit Musicals resources to five is because I saw on the Civilization 4 wiki that "Broadway provides your civilization with five Hit Musicals resources (which provide happiness)." Because of that, it’s really hard to change the number of Hit Musicals. So I was wondering if there’s any way to solve this issue without adjusting the quantity. Especially since I think something similar might come up later when implementing the Wonders in Civilization 4, and I’m not quite sure how to handle it.

Hello, I didn't check the Resource.xml file but you could still reach 20 happiness by trading these Hit Musicals with other civs in exchange for luxuries they have but you do not. For example, let's say one of the AI players have Silver resource but you don't. You could get their (extra) Silver resource by trading it for 1 Hit Musical. That way, you could get 4 happiness instead of 1 or 2 and so on. I don't know if the AI will actually make that trade or not but most often than not it is dumber than a rock (lol) so it would not surprise me if it does. Anyways, this was just a minor thing. Thank you for your mods, please keep making them.

@The Lord Of Drinks There’s just one thing I’m a bit confused about. If you’ve looked into the Resource.xml file in my mod, you’ll notice that the "Hit Musical" is set to provide 2 happiness, not 4 like the standard luxuries in Civ V. So even with 5 of them, the maximum happiness gain would be 10 — not 20. I’m curious how you came to that number.

In any case, I truly appreciate your input. I always try to carefully consider balance when creating mods. That’s why I’ve now adjusted the values: the happiness from the luxury has been reduced from 2 to 1, and the culture bonus has been lowered from 20% to 10%, in order to keep things more in line with the base game while still honoring the original concept.

Thanks again for your comment! I'm using a translation tool due to my limited English skills, so I hope you'll understand if anything sounds a bit awkward.

@The Lord Of Drinks Hello! Thank you for your thoughtful feedback.

You may have seen it in the mod description already, but this mod is actually a slightly modified version of the Broadway effect from Civilization IV, adapted for Civ V. That’s why both the culture bonus and the "Hit Musical" luxury resource are included — they’re directly inspired by the original.

In Civ IV, Broadway granted a 50% culture bonus. In Civ VI, it provides a 20% bonus. So my goal was to closely recreate the original effect from Civ IV, while adjusting the numbers to better fit the balance style of Civ VI.

As for the "Hit Musical" luxury — that’s also not my original idea. It, too, comes from Civ IV, where building Broadway would automatically grant access to that luxury, with the quantity varying based on map size. So removing either the culture bonus or the luxury would take the mod further away from its source material, which I wanted to stay faithful to.

This is a good mod but a bit overpowered. Maybe you could swap the extra luxuries with 5 regular happiness yield instead? Because 5 unique luxuries can be traded with other luxuries that other players have and provide 20 happiness in total which is a lot overpowered in my opinion. 20% Culture itself is strong on its own anyways. Anyhow, that's just my opinion, and thanks for making these mods, I use most of them.
