MCX (WCX) from Resident Evil Village (MP5)

12 items
Description
Replaces the MP5 with the MCX Virtus or WCX or w/e sybau twin. Also has a M79 for the grenade launcher. New animation debut. The gun is from Resident Evil Village ported to Source in a Garry's Mod addon, but the gunshot sound is from CS:GO's M4A1 and the handling and grenade launcher sounds are from Insurgency because of course lol. 6 arm options (Base Game by default) included!

Features:
  • MCX assault rifle and M79 grenade launcher from Resident Evil Village (RE8) replacing the MP5
  • Custom animations that keep the original timing for animations that matter
  • Sounds from Insurgency for handling and grenade launcher. Sounds from CS:GO's M4A1 for gunshots
  • New ammo pickups for rifle and launcher
  • IK and realtime looping animations
  • Untested multiplayer support: MP arms and worldmodel
  • Weapon Bucket Icon (VGUI)
  • Sprinting (often) matches footsteps, realtime too.
  • Blood and Acid slathering support
  • No weapon scripts
  • 5.56mm shell ejection
  • 6 arm options

Addon Information:
This addon is for base Black Mesa.
Multiplayer has not been tested with this addon.
The textures may be uncompressed lol.

Possible Issues:
Loading a save from before this addon was downloaded might not work properly.
This addon was animated on Base Game arms, so there may be clipping/misalignment with others.
Garry's Mod's StudioMDL was used because the models were over 20lbs. Worked fine in testing tho.

Addon Contents:
mcxSelectionScript.bat: A script which allows quick selection of hands and gunshots. Requires unchanged files names or hierarchy. Recommended.
0_MCXforMP5_shared_000.vpk: Contains the MCX and M79, ammo, shells, sounds, eject script, and icons. Needs a directory.
0_MCXforMP5_shared_dir.vpk: A directory. Includes Gunshots. Pair with the _000.vpk
Inside of "0_MCXforMP5_ADDONS"
…arm options…
0_MCXforMP5_OVERRIDE_HandsThanez.vpk: Thanez arms. Additionally, Ammo HUD from the Thanez M4A1 addon, and a different weapon bucket icon.
0_MCXforMP5_OVERRIDE_HandsChris1.vpk: Chris V1 arms.
0_MCXforMP5_OVERRIDE_HandsChris2.vpk: Chris V2 arms.
0_MCXforMP5_OVERRIDE_HandsChrisFewes: Chris+Fewes arms.
0_MCXforMP5_OVERRIDE_HandsFewes.vpk: Fewes arms.
…gunshot options…
0_MCXforMP5_shared_dir_GUNSHOTS.vpk: Includes Gunshots
0_MCXforMP5_shared_dir_NOGUNSHOTS.vpk: Excludes Gunshots

Arms/Gunshots options:
This addon doesn't have arm materials or textures, so you must have an addon that has them in "custom".
This addon has 6 arm options included: Base Game (default), Thanez, Chris V1, Chris V2, Chris Fewes, and Fewes[gamebanana.com].

Selecting options needs the addon to be in "custom". Follow the steps at "Manual Installation" below. Avoid renaming files and folders if you do not understand load order or want to use the script.
Once in "custom", use "mcxSelectionScript.bat" to select the options.

Alternatively, move files manually. "0_MCXforMP5_shared_[..].vpk" shares assets — never remove it.
For the gunshot option, you must copy it, then rename it to "0_MCXforMP5_shared_dir.vpk", and then replace the one in "custom".
Because .vpk files must be directly in "custom" to load, putting them in a subfolder can deactivate them.

In the "custom" folder, the name of the addon matters, as it determines the load order; the files from an addon with higher priority can't be replaced by the overlapping files from any lower priority addon. The name is case-sensitive. The simplified order is: ( 0-9 > A-Z > a-z ). More symbols here[www.ascii-code.com].
Example: you have two addons, 0.vpk and 1.vpk, that change many files and some of the files overlap (e.g., both replace a weapon model). Because 0.vpk comes earlier, it has priority, meaning 1.vpk won't replace the overlapping files while still adding whatever 0.vpk hasn't already touched.

Not Working? Solutions:
If this addon is not working, here are some basic steps that could help. It's best to have the game exited before downloading. You may skip these steps.
  • Check for other addons overlapping. Load Order in Properties doesn't work. The addons subscribed to before this one have priority.
  • Append wait; toggle r_rootlod 0 0.0 0 1 1.0 1 2 2.0 2 to "bms\cfg\autoexec.cfg".
  • Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Unsubscribe and resubscribe to this addon.
  • Restart Steam.
  • Follow "Manual Installation" below.

Manual Installation:
Here is a tutorial on how to place this addon's files into your game's install directory. Alternatively, you can use this guide linked here.
  1. In the Steam library, right-click on Black Mesa, hover over "Manage", and then click "Browse local files".

This will open your Black Mesa install folder, which should be at "steamapps\common\Black Mesa".

  2. Enter the folder "steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms". Inside of "bms" there should be a folder called "custom" — if it isn't there, create it.

The game reads files and folders from the "custom" folder, so that is where the files must be placed.

  3. Go to "steamapps\workshop\content\362890\3582645868" and then take the files (which are listed at Addon Contents above) and place them into "steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms\custom".

"362890" is Black Mesa's Steam ID. "3582645868" is this Workshop addon's ID.

  4. Unsubscribe to this addon.

You will not be able to get any future updates to this addon by doing this, and if it updates you will have to repeat these steps. If you do not unsubscribe, Steam will have no idea where the files went so it will try to download them again.

This addon should now show up ingame.
If it doesn't work at this point, then I am unable to help you.
The steps may have to be done for other addons too.
You can also unpack .vpk files into loose folders and files, which may help.
