They say this armor once belonged to a knight of a secret order, a man who believed he could cage the dead.
Through an ancient rite long since forgotten — or maybe erased on purpose — he bound the spirits of the restless into his own armor.
Each plate became a tomb, each rivet a lock. The kind you can’t see, but can always feel when the air turns cold.
Years passed. The metal blackened. And beneath its surface, faces began to stir — faint outlines pressing from within, lit by a pale, unnatural gleam.
People started calling it the Ghostly Flame.
Not fire in the way we know it, but something colder — a memory that refuses to fade.
By day, the faces are at their brightest, shapes shifting just beneath the surface, as if sunlight itself unsettles their uneasy sleep.
At dusk, the shimmer fades, swallowed by the creeping gray, and the armor grows still — too still, like something holding its breath.
And in complete darkness, they vanish altogether.
Not because they are gone — but because whatever watches from within no longer needs the light to see you.
The armor now drifts without a master, carrying the soft murmur of voices that have forgotten how to die.
Some say that on Halloween night, if you find it — or worse, if it finds you — and you dare to look too long into the dull shimmer of its plates…
you might catch a glimpse of a face that isn’t yours.
And if it notices you staring back —
well, then it’s already too late to look away.
