The Forest Pokemon is here to run rampent in the world of Aether

Sceptile is a gecko-based monster from the creature collecting RPG, Pokémon that made their debut in Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald in 2002 as the 3rd evolution of the game's Grass starter, Treecko. Sceptiles are said to revitalize trees and care for the plants of the forests & jungles. They are also nimble and can jump freely from branch to branch with minimal effort

[Forest Pokemon]
Sceptile is a fast paced character that keeps all players on their toes. They mix swift claw swipes, kicks, and a few unconventional moves to make combos out of any stray hit. Some of these attacks can be Dash Canceled to negate the endlag

[Leech]
Every 5th attack that lands Leeches the enemy, doing extra damage, knockback, & heals Sceptile equivalent to the damage of the hit. Plan moves accordingly to get comebacks & unexpected combo strings

[Crawl]
Sceptile can move forward & back while crouching

[Wallcling/Wallclimb]
Sceptile can cling to the wall when holding Jump towards a wall for a period of time. Additionally, they can climb up & down the wall during the cling

𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙨

[Dash Attack]
An uppercut followed by a slash close to the ground. The uppercut can be canceled into any Normal if inputted before the sweep

[Forward-Tilt]
Leap & slash forward. This can be Dash Canceled on hit

[Neutral-Air - (Iron Tail)]
Steel the tail & spin in a circular motion. This has Soft Armor that can't be broken by weaker attacks

[Up-Air - (Bullet Seed)]
Spew explosive seeds upwards to multi-hit enemies. The 4rd seed has kill power

[Down-Air]
Flip kick downwards. If this lands, Sceptile bounces upwards and can cancel into an Aerial including itself. This knocks grounded enemies upwards and airborne enemies downwards

[Forward-Strong - (Drain Punch)]
Collect energy & punch forward. This heals Sceptile regardless if Leech is active or not. If it is, the healing is doubled

[Down-Strong - ([Earthquake)]
Palm thrust down to quake the ground - knocking enemies upwards. How far this reaches scales with charge time, but stops at ledges. This can be Dash Canceled on hit. Down-Strong's quake can only hit grounded enemies

[Neutral-Special - (Solar Blade)]
Charge a large blade to slam in front. Range, damage, & knockback scales with charge time. This can be Dash Canceled on hit

[Side-Special - (X-Scissor)]
Blink in a diagonal & slash at the end. The slash hard spikes anyone hit

[Down-Special - (Shed Tail)]
Twist and fire the tail as a projectile. This can be held to delay when it's shot. While holding, it can be Dash Canceled out of. If used in the air, the shot is angled downwards

[Up-Special - (Leaf Storm)]
Charge a tornado that propels Sceptile into the air upon release. Anyone caught in the tornado will be multi-hit, with the release launching them upwards. The ascent can be canceled into an Aerial or any other Special

Sceptile may be on the simpler side, but Leech makes things a sandbox. Combos will rarely go how you expect them to

Notice how most of the complicated stuff is stashed within the Normal moves. Have fun deciphering all that

Dash Canceling is the drug that keeps on drugging

You can't infinitely chain F-Tilt & Dash Attack. I would know. I tried. Would be funny though, but I have standards

Leech F-Strong is a built in meme-move. If they get hit by it, it's their fault

D-Strong was designed for the grounded footsies Rivals of Aether is known for

Go on. Fish for F-Special. Hit the style move. Don't worry. You totally won't get punished for it (lieing)

If you don't end up winning, spam D-Tilt. It usually works I swear

Don't expect any major balances or changes. There may be bug fixes here and there, but that's just about it

Speaking of suggestions, a small bounce after side B to ensure you barely live your off stage finishers, would be very appreciated. But only on hit that is. You could also make the bounce leech seed only, if that sounds more fair

The mechanics of Leech Seed are in the description! The reason why your Neutral Special is doing 50% sometimes compared to the usual 25% is because Leech Seed is active! It's rather a bit difficult to land at max charge since you're wide open. Think of it like a high-risk, high-reward move! Leech Seed is also balanced by the fact that you lose the status once you get parried. Healing is strong, but we did extensive testing to try to balance him out in a way where he wouldn't be too overbearing! He's pretty much a glass cannon like in the games after all!

The Neutral Special seems to go up to 25% damage, but sometimes, randomly, it does 50 instead at seemingly max charge? But then if I charge it for LONGER, it goes back to 25???? I don't get it....

Awesome Character! Love the moveset and sprite art! Now all we need is a really good base Swampert to complete the Gen 3 evolved trio! (Yes, i am aware of Mudkip and Mega Swampert)

my only note/recommendation is maybe tone down the leech ability to heal a percentage of the amount of damage as opposed to equal damage (like absorb, mega drain or giga drain from the main series) as i could see someone really good at timing going from 50% to 0% against friends if combos are timed right with smash attacks.
I understand this may sound a tad harsh perhaps but i really like your work on this character and wanted to give a recommendation that could maybe help. Thanks for reading.
