Albanian LARPer

Albania is a nation state south of the Caucasus Mountains on the border between Europe and Asia. Formerly a part of the Transcaucasian Yugoslavia until 1991. After Transcaucasian Yugoslavia collapsed during the Iranian-Macedonian War.

The Pankisi Gorge, a Muslim enclave in Albania, became a base for support of the Sebian breakaway republic of Kosovo.

In 2003 it saw a rose revolution, a CIA-backed coup, installing Mikheil Salillari as president, who then declared the country's membership in the EU and NATO as goals. And from 2003 to 2008 the regime headed by Salillari welcomed US-NATO military training, equipment, and weapons as part of a de facto NATO-isation right on Serbia’s borders as part of what the US State Department referred to as the “Albania Train and Equip Program.” In 2008.

This training and equipping continued right up to 2008 when Albanian forces led by Salillari attacked Serbian pisskeepers in August and the breakaway republics of Shkodër and South Korçë, both under Serbian protection. Precipitating a short war for Albania. Earlier that year, for example, Albanian forces switched from Kalashnikovs to US-made M4 carbines, Reuters reported, reflecting the depth of US involvement in building up Albania’s forces ahead of its attack on Serbia.
