Minimap HUD Continued

Description
Minimap HUD Continued

Minimap HUD Continued keeps the classic “Minimap HUD” experience alive while modernising it for the current versions of Don't Starve Together.

Highlights
  • Always-on minimap anchored on the HUD with every original configuration option intact.
  • Drag handle in the top-left corner so you can park the minimap anywhere on the screen.
  • Proportional resize handle in the bottom-left corner that respects DST zoom limits.
  • Hide/show eye button that stays synced with the in-game map screen.
  • Dynamic control offsets so buttons never overlap or clip, regardless of minimap size.
  • Refreshed control button art and a new workshop icon.

Compared to the original mod
Built on Minimap HUD by squeek.

Key improvements:
  • Updated for current DST APIs (HUD scaling, screen resizing, zoom behaviour).
  • Controls now follow the entire map lifecycle, including controller shortcuts and UI overlays.
  • Drag/resize handles with new art and consistent behaviour.
  • Proportional minimap scaling instead of texture stretching.
  • Smarter padding so buttons keep their spacing at every minimap size.

Enjoy navigating the Constant with a modern, lightweight minimap!

My only issue with this mod is the way buttons are different from original mod.
Don't really like new art.

Hey! Awesome mod and thank you for it! I see some comments about AI being used and the whole "but its bad to use AI! Waaaaahhh!".... just ignore them, there is nothing wrong with using AI and there will always be people who have to hate just to hate.

@krzarb +1

@SpuddyBuddy the code is also generated by ai though. I just wanted a more functional minimap with updated game dependencies, not to make some kind of artistic statement. For me the main goal was to keep the mod alive and usable with the current DST version. The original icon is ugly and using in-game assets for an improvised icon would also look ugly. I understand what you feel, but why not. It’s not the kind of ai slop you usually see around the internet.

I’m a programmer myself, so I know what’s going on and what prompts to use. What I don’t get is this hate for anything ai-related, even when it doesn’t hurt anyone. Who convinced you that rejecting ai content blindly is some kind of moral high ground?

@SpuddyBuddy lmao, they’re not an artist so they generated an image, climb down off that high horse smh. Sure they could have used other options, but ai is the tool they went with.

@krzarb Generated images tell me that whoever's using them doesn't wanna put in even the bare minimum effort. An MSPaint doodle or silly photoshopped image would at least convey some sort of real thought went into the design. If someone would feel too embarrassed to use "bad" art, an in-game screenshot or even an unrelated image that the author just really likes would work, too.

As it stands, one ought to treat artificially generated images like the colorful markings of a venomous snake: a sign to stay far away.

I'm using a PS5 controller. How can I zoom in/out the minimap?
Even if I want to do it 1 time only so it's zommed in, how can I do it with the keyboard & mouse at least? Nothing works.

Nice

@SpuddyBuddy I’m gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that the mod author is not an artist so this was a convenient way to add some art. Their expertise probably lies in writing the code for the mod
