ProperMelee

Description
Have you ever tried to turn your pawn into a cybernetic killing machine, stuffing them with every possible combat implant—only to be disappointed when a Neanderthal with the plasteel spear outperforms them?

This mod is here to fix that injustice!

What the mod does:
  • It completely reworks melee mechanics, allowing multiple sources of damage to trigger during a single attack.
  • Primary Attack Priority: The weapon with the highest damage always takes priority as the main strike.
  • Secondary Sources: Combat implants, off-hand or weaker weapons, and unarmed attacks (fists, headbutts, bites) each have a 10% chance to deal extra damage alongside the main hit.
  • Skill-Based Hit Cap: The maximum number of hits per attack scales with the pawn’s Melee skill:
    • Level 0–5 → 1 hit
    • Level 6–10 → 2 hits
    • Level 11–15 → 3 hits
    • Level 16–20 → 4 hits

Note — “Hits”, not swings:
Even at level 0, if the pawn misses the main strike, secondary sources still get a chance to land.

This system makes melee combat more consistent and ensures that combat implants provide a real advantage in battle.

Yes.

compatible with melee animation?

While unarmed, you can still hit with your other fist, head, and teeth. Though, the fewer damage sources you have, the lower the chance for additional hits. Also, yeah, it’s a bit busted — but the mod affects enemy pawns as well, so beware hussars and neanderthals.

I’m basing this on vanilla mechanics, where heavy weapons balance themselves with slower attack speed, so I don’t see a reason to reduce the number of attacks.

Also, would you consider limiting the bonus hits based on weapon mass? Say you have a beast of a heavy weapon melee weapon, maybe its max should be 2 hits per round

I'm gonna give this a go, seems really cool, if potentially busted. Does this affect unarmed? Been considering an unarmed, no-kill run, so it would be awesome if it did.

Sadly not, DPS prioritizing still works but not additional hits.

is this compatible with CE?

I didn't test it much, but at first glance it looks like they work just fine together.

Is this compatable with Yayo's Combat 3?
