why do source not like open space?

maybe in the future I will be able to remove the invisible walls on this map, I do not promise, but for now I am busy with other maps that are not finished.

It is important to remember that the Source Engine does not like open spaces, it is a corridor engine that is difficult to optimize.

this is not my map, but a map from the Battleground game. I made only minor changes to it, I do not know why the developers made invisible walls, but most likely for optimization, since the brushes like "Hint" and "Skip" should not pass through the water but be above it.

Or simply removing the inner walls and making impossible to reach the outer perimeter (currently you can via underwater).

So much invisible walls that makes the gameplay clunky, removing them and making water cause damage might be a better option. If it is possible

Visually is really nice and explorative and looks fun to fight around, You have nice taste for maps man
