Key Features

Full In-Game Settings Menu:
Tweak every single feature to your exact preference. Find it under Settings -> Extensions -> Bail and Board Settings.

Three Unique Bailing Formulas:
Choose your preferred style of surrender, from the balanced vanilla to the skill-focused "Veteran's Resolve" or the dynamic "Panic vs. Morale".

Granular Bailing Control:
Adjust bail timers, bonus chances on failed attempts, crew bail group sizes, and apply difficulty modifiers for different ship types.

Meaningful Boarding Consequences:
Piracy is now a crime! Boarding operations apply reputation penalties and alert local police, with multipliers fully adjustable in the menu.

Dynamic Boarding Combat:
The internal fight is no longer just a numbers game. Enable critical hits for both attackers and defenders, where high-skill marines have a chance to deal triple damage.

Enhanced Boarding Mechanics:
Enable "Pod Frying" where high shields pose a real threat to incoming pods, making veteran marines more valuable. Adjust the speed of the hull-cutting phase to your liking.

Improved Player Feedback:
Get on-screen notifications for hull cutting progress, failed bail attempts, and when boarding pods are fried by enemy shields.




The Nitty-Gritty: Detailed Mechanics Breakdown

Bailing Overhaul
Take control of when and how enemy ships surrender.

Three Bail Chance Formulas:

Formula 1: Vanilla – The standard Egosoft formula. A balanced approach where pilot skill, ship size, and health are all factors.

Formula 2: Veteran's Resolve (Quadratic) – Skill matters immensely. Rookies bail easily, but high-skill veterans are extremely resolute, making them very difficult to dislodge.

Formula 3: Panic vs. Morale – A dynamic battle between panic (hull damage) and nerve (morale). High-morale pilots endure punishment, but even they break when the ship is near destruction.


Fine-Tune Your Bailing Experience:

Difficulty Divisors: Separate settings for Capital ships, Xenon ships, and ships attacked by AI fleets.
Adjustable Timers: Control cooldowns between bail checks for S/M and L/XL ships.
Bonus Chance on Fail: Add a stacking bonus to the bail chance with every failed attempt. Resets on success.
Captain Scuttle: Captains may damage their ship/components as a final act of defiance.
Notifications: Choose whether notifications stay on screen whilst your waiting for that adjustable timer for bailing





Boarding Overhaul
Turn boarding into a tactical and consequential operation.

Real Reputation Penalties:

Boarding Started: Optional penalty the moment you commit. Alerts local police.
Boarding Successful: Major crime! Penalty equivalent to destroying the ship. Configurable from 0x (none) to 4x (severe).


Tactical Combat & Risks:

Pod Frying: Boarding pods can be destroyed by shield energy. Chance decreases with marine skill.
Critical Hits: High-skill marines can deal triple damage during combat.
Hull Cutting Control: Adjust infiltration speed. Receive notifications at progress thresholds (10%, 20%, 50%, etc.).





Configuration
All features are configurable via the in-game Extensions Options menu.
Go to Settings -> Extensions -> Bail and Board Settings to customize your experience.




Installation & Compatibility

Script-only XML patching mod. Safe to add to an existing save.
Compatible with mods that do not alter boarding.xml or PlayerOwnedShipAttacks in notifications.xml.
Not recommended alongside other bailing/boarding overhauls (likely conflicts).

i think its only 1) the ships the player is engaging and 2) the ships player faction ships are engaging

Do the bailing changes effect all ship fighting all over or only ones the player is personally attacking?

Been using this mod since it came out, love it. I love how customizable it is, you can make it balanced and the way the crews bail feels realistic and makes sense. Your ship lost its shield and its hull is getting hit? You might die so get out! Hull at 50% now? Even scarier. 25%? Time to leave! Only one small nitpick from me would be the flavour text for bail checks. When it fails it says something like “bail check failed” I think it’d be cool if it was something more akin to “the crew are holding strong!”

Scaled for rep panalty already inbcluded in the next version. It may take a lil bit to upload as I want to bring a new feature and not pushing an entire update just for the tiny parts I have edited and updated so far.

You can expect it within a week or two at most :)

I did not know i need this mod until i found it. Great work :)
One thing tho, would love a step between 0x and 1x for the successful boarding rep penalty.
though for myself, boarding is not as bad as destroying the ship but still want a rep penalty. :D
