225工程是20世纪70年代初苏联列宁格勒-基洛夫工厂为“主题-101”计划设计的下一代主战坦克方案。该车采用经典布局，配备130毫米主炮和三人乘员组，最大特点是采用了低矮炮塔和创新的双层横置自动装弹机，显著降低了车高。但弹药布局存在严重安全隐患，弹盘直接位于薄弱侧装甲后方。车体大量使用钛合金材料导致成本高昂，且动力系统未能实际达标。最终因性能提升有限、防护缺陷及成本问题，于1972年被终止发展，部分技术后被应用于T-80坦克的研制。
Project 225 was a next-generation main battle tank design developed by the Soviet Union's Leningrad-Kirov Plant in the early 1970s under the "Theme-101" program. The vehicle featured a classic layout, armed with a 130mm main gun and operated by a three-person crew. Its most notable characteristics included a low-profile turret and an innovative dual-layer, horizontally mounted autoloader, which significantly reduced the overall height of the tank. However, the ammunition layout posed serious safety risks, as the ammunition carousel was positioned directly behind the vulnerable side armor. The extensive use of titanium alloy in the hull led to high costs, and the power system failed to meet practical performance standards. Ultimately, the project was terminated in 1972 due to limited performance improvements, defensive flaws, and cost issues. Some of its technologies were later applied to the development of the T-80 tank.
