SHIELD-84

BETTER BE PLAYED IN DESTRUCTION MODE!

What's so special about this mod in particular?

The key thing of this mod is a revise of game's balance, make it somewhat more slow-paced! Each unit can and will be stronger than you expect. Due of that - the game itself is becoming way more unforgiving. I've did that since singleplayer's AI seemed too boring to play against, with its main strength being the spam of good units!
though there's pretty much no all-new units, maybe changed weapons, names, traits, but not the units themselves

The main re-balancing features

- Infantry fights! :3
Infantrymen kill eachother way more faster, making it possible for a single MANPAD or 4-men recon squad to have pretty much the same chances to win or at least deal heavy damage to eachother

- Some units that everyone uses only because they're cheap / there is no other option are buffed!
For example - the 2A28 of BMP-1. It has it's static accuracy buffed to 45%, but in return, soviets lost pretty much of BMP-2s (its autocannon, however, got buffed too, check it out yourself!)

- I am also experimenting with faction's doctrines!
For example, NATO (mostly just US lol) has an air superiority, with a huge ECM on most of the jets and more accuracy on their missiles, but got less of AA, while soviets have much more AA (which is also buffed sometimes), but way more less-reliable air support
OR! The neat part, NATO tanks stay alive only in distance, the closer soviet tanks are getting to them, the less chances BLUFOR tank crew has to survive. NATO got less or tanks tho, giving soviets an advantage here!

Overall feedback

I am a solo dev, I've got many stuff happening with me in real life, so I cant really waste much time on playing WARNO nowadays, but if you think there's something odd / OOTF, feel free to tell me about this! UPDATE 10/25/25

- Changed the HP on WG reservists by exmaple of KdA shutzen [ 9 => 5 ]

- By the same methodics downgraded the HP of Nat. Guard rifles [ Up to 6 HP mostly ]

- 3rd Infantry got more West German units

- "Bushmaster" autocannon now deals more damage to any armored units (and has more accuracy when shooting those)

- "2A42" autocannon got more HE damage [ 0.6 => 0.8 ]

- Standartised penetration of "Abrams" and M60' tank series [ 20 for everyone ]

- Amount of said tanks is now lowered

- T-55A's front armor lowered [ 11 => 9 ]

- LARS supply cost increased [ 720 => 1250 ]

- More accuracy for RCL rifles [ Up to 45% ]

- MiG-31M in 35-y replaced [ MiG-31 => 2 cards of MiG-29 ]

- More Mi-8 supply per 1 card for 35-y [ 2 => 3 ]

- ASU-85 in 35-y replaced [ ASU-85 => BMD-1P in tank tab ]

- Fixed Desant. Usilennie FD

- Spetsnaz replaced in 35-y [ Spetsnaz => DSh. Afgantsy ]

- More AT accuracy for Nona-K [ 30 => 50 ]

- LuAZ FAO for 35-y

- Spetsnaz GRU with stolen stinger for 35-y

- BTR-ZD "Skrezhet" in DCA tab for 35-y

- MiG-25RBF replaced in 35-y [ MiG-25RBF => Su-25 and MiG-27K series ]

- A-10A "Thunderbolt" II and Su-25 "Rook" series got the "Resolute" trait so they wont pass out from a single thought about enemy AA

- F-4F [AA] got more ECM [ 30 => 60 ]

- Green Berets from TKS for 82-nd

- Su-17M4 [HE] for 57-y

@man About the AG: currently I cant modify the campaign itself, I can only change some units and pawns in it, but later I guess I'll try to change something in future, even though its painful

talking about challengers: brits are probably not really finished, but I assume one day I'll make em accurate anyway, its more about changing their rifles and some stats

also, where's the challenger 1? im pretty sure this tank entered service in '83, being part of the Royal Hussars and the BAOR, so it would be reasonable to see one challenger 1 unit

I've done the 20 pen thing for M60's and Abrams series, but I'll release all of that with the next update which should fix some missing stuff and some certain units, should be released in a couple of hours

see im fine with them being less available if they are twenty pen, even if historicity isnt your goal. its just so many mods, even historical ones, go "muh balance" and nerf it. i just saw that you were going for a more asymmetrical balance and got excited. its probably one of my biggest pet peeves about this game and its mods.

which kinda makes more sense, since the key feature of BLUFOR here is to use Quality over Quanity, at least I am trying to make it look like that

@Eso Oh, the thing is that those guns are separated in Ammunition.ndf, so I probably just forget to update some of them lol hehe

Though I am pretty unsure that it'll be +- balanced, I dont really aim for the realism part, its more about just something.. interesting to play I'd say. I can make a 19/20 pen standart for both Abrams and M60', but I'll definetly have to cut some cards of said tanks

please please please, make the M68A1 guns performance standard across the board. The US used the same rounds in every tank with it, as it was the mainstay for the tanks. The US always made sure that plenty of the up to date round was in Europe for them. All the M60's and Abrams' should have the same pen, even the National Guard ones.
