Conrail Superpack

Description
Conrail (Consolidated Rail Corporation) was a government-created freight railroad formed in 1976 from several bankrupt Northeastern railroads, including Penn Central. It revitalized rail service in the region, becoming profitable by the 1980s after major restructuring and deregulation. In 1999, Conrail was split between CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern, though it still exists today as a jointly owned switching and terminal railroad in certain metropolitan areas.
