🌙 The Moonlight Twins – Sylthae Moonshard & Caelthir Moonwind

Born beneath a lunar eclipse and bound by an ancient ceremony, Sylthae and Caelthir were torn apart by war and fate. Sylthae, raised and finally escaping the torture and blood-soaked arenas of The Blood Hall, returns as a dual-wielding Bladesinger trained by the Shadowdancers to wield her tormented past as a weapon of revenge. Caelthir, nurtured by Wind-Priests and Stag-Seers, rides into battle atop her ancient stag Veylathir, channeling the fury of the wild.

Once upon a time, back in the days of 4th Edition TT, I played a Wood Elves army of mainly Wardancers and impact cavalry. This mod reimagines that dynamic for Warhammer III, offering an alternative to the treemen-and-archer meta. Designed for players who like fluid, melee-focused battles and tactical positioning. The Moonlight Twins introduces two player-only Legendary Heroes whose bond shapes the battlefield, available to any of the Wood Elves factions in the IE campaign.

New 23/10/25 Mod Update: The Trial Deepens
The moonlight bond frays…
This update expands the mod with new content and narrative consequence:
• 🛡️ New Legendary Hero: Thalanir Thornbearer, a secretive waywatcher, now joins the arc with his own mythic presence.
• ⚔️ Additional Units: Reinforcements arrive—new elite troops now support Sylthae, Caelthir, and Thalanir in their struggle.
• 📜 New Missions & Dilemmas: As Sylthae ascends, she faces new trials. The Trial of Severance and Final Trial dilemmas now challenge her loyalty, agency, and fate.
• 🌙 Expanded Narrative: Sylthae’s bond to the dark elves begins to unravel. Her choices now shape the outcome of the moonlight arc.

This update should be compatible with mid-campaign saves, but players already deep in their journey may experience multiple events in one turn if Sylthae has levelled past key thresholds. My recommendation is to start a new campaign with the mod to fully experience the pacing. The new dilemmas add significant variety and options for the Wood Elves player if you wish to pursue Sylathe's story to completion.

Together, they bring a mythic edge to your campaign:
  • Custom skill trees tailored to their roles
  • Sylthae boosts Wardancers and Bladesingers with elegant lethality
  • Caelthir enhances Wild Riders and Stag Knights increasing their mobility and the ferocity of their charge
  • The Moonlight Bond: a dynamic trait system that strengthens when the Twins are in the same region, and fades when they are apart
  • Thalanir Thornbearer is a secretive waystalker who boosts waywatchers
  • Unique magic items and effects tied to their history

Sylthae arrives next to the Faction Leader on Turn 2, Caelthir appears a random number of turns later via a choice dilemma. Their presence inspires reckless charges in units and disrupts ranged formations, turning precision into chaos. Will you reunite the Moonlight Twins beneath the silver moon and unleash their tempest upon the enemies of Athel Loren?

Hi Aristocratic Astorian, yes multi-player is a bit of a challenge for a mod like this because there are a lot of dilemmas etc that can get interrupted in the code. Thanks very much for letting me know about the issues you had, I'll see what I can do about multiplayer, but it's not an easy fix I'm afraid.

Hello mangers and Vichechi, thanks for the Moonlight Twins mod, its great. Can you make a custom legendary hero mod for the Empire and Repanse factions? I am looking for a modder or modders to make a legendary heroine or two Thanks.

Okay I've figured out the problem, it doesn't work on multiplayer or potentially the event to spawn the first sister was interrupted by the other players actions. I just did a test on a single player campaign and it worked.

@Aristocratic Astorian...I have just tested with all the Wood Elves factions, including some of the factions added by other mods (like Mixu's Legendary Lords) and it appears to be working, so I suspect there might be something in your mod list perhaps, likely an overhaul mod. I'd be interested to try and work out what it is. Sorry it doesn't seem to work for you.

@Aristocratic Astorian...thanks for letting me know, I will have a look at that, it should work with any of the Wood Elves factions, and it did in my testing...are you using any overhaul mods or similar? That might help me track down the issue.

I'm currently on turn 8 playing as Durthu and still haven't had either of them spawn, I even got the event to spawn the second sisters but nothing happened.

@Cinder - thanks for the feedback...I'll have a look at those skill trees. Yes, I think some balance with the new additions may be required. I'll look at some unique traits too! Appreciate the helpful feedback!
