Description
Early Note before reading the background story: This witch has Medium-High Threat

Somewhere in "Cold Case" campaign, survivors arrived in front of an abandoned house near a sewer. As they were under pursuit of zombies, they took shelter in the house. However, something strange happened. Somehow the house looked creepy, like a slaughter house or even demon house, & it's too quiet. Not wanting to keep feeling anxious, Nick just took a walk leisurely in the house.

Somewhere in the house, he found a room in the corner that looked suspicious. When he opened the door, he was so surprised & horrified at the same time when seeing lots of blood & he just run spontaneously. He turned somewhere to a baby room with a baby bed. & there, the fated reunion happened. He met a witch, a special one.

Witch: "PSSSTT...!! SILENCE......"
Nick: "Oh sh*t...! You......"

BRAKKK!! Hearing such sound about something falling, other survivors hurriedly came to where the sound came from. Before entering the room where the falling sound was, they walked carefully. There, they found Nick just unconscious on the ground. & next to Nick, there's a witch that's already putting her right pointing finger in front of her lips, with her glaring eyes at them. Ellis spontaneously covered his mouth with both of his hands while the others were frozen in fear. Then, they tried to drag the unconscious Nick very slowly, out of room. Strangely enough, the witch didn't pursue them. After arriving in another room far enough from there, Coach used defibrillator on Nick.

Nick: "Ah sh*t, stop shocking me...!! What happened...?!"
Coach: "You just fainted in front of the witch. Good thing that you didn't wet your pants, Nick. Hehehehe..."
Nick: "Ah cr*p, that witch...!"
ROchelle: "What's with that witch...?"
Nick: "That's her..."
Coach: "What...?!"
Ellis: "I think we ever met her, guys... Do you remember how Nick ran back down to the sewer like seeing a ghost before the cemetery area where there were many cars? That's her..."
Coach: "Oh, that, when Nick kept hiding in the sewer for almost half an hour & refused to climb up?"
Ellis: "Yeah..."
Coach: "Your ex huh, Nick... What a reunion..."
Nick: "We'd better leave immediately. She's very dangerous. Remember when I told you that she hated car alarms?"
Rochelle: "Yes. What about it?"
Nick: "Now she can make you faint instantly if you make too much noise when moving near her."
Coach: "Aren't you probably too paranoid? Probably you fainted because you're tired."
Nick: "No, she could talk. She said like, 'Silence...' & I didn't remember what happened afterwards."
Ellis: "Maybe Nick was right. Remember how she put her pointing finger on her lips, like warning us not to make a sound?"
Nick: "You can try it if you don't believe me. But I WILL NOT go there again, EVER...!"
Coach: "But what about the baby bed in that room, Nick...?"
Nick: "Nothing... Let's just not talk about it & that crazy witch. Once you're done checking her to prove my works, we're leaving this house immediately. I don't want to be chased by her again, especially after she's mutated like that."

Since that day, Nick had been overly cautious & scared of witch. What happened to him in the past, along with why his ex-, which was now called "Serenity Witch" for her love of serenity, & the baby bed remained as a mystery...


So, that's the background story for fun :D . It's the continuation of what happened on "Mommy Witch Hates Car Alarm" mod.

Well, about this witch, this one was inspired by the "special witch" in "Cold Case" custom campaign. There's a deadly witch there that's part of the missions. If you're curious, you can try that custom campaign. But make sure that you're familiar with puzzles first, as there are some puzzles waiting there. This witch was also inspired by some deadly games similar to hide and seek where the participants need to approach the one counting the numbers slowly, & they need to stop immediately or they'll die. Probably most of you are familiar with this. Yeah, but this is a simpler one. I'll explain more on the mechanisms below.


List of features available on "serenity witch.txt" cfg file:
  1. Serenity Witch Chance: The spawn chance of "Serenity WItch".

  2. Area Kill: Disabled by default. When enabled, witch can kill multiple survivors near the culprit that startles her.

  3. Special Music: When enabled, "Stay Alive" song will be played when this witch spawns.

  4. Allow Notification: This is to toggle on/ off witch's spawn notification.


Mechanisms of "Serenity Witch":
  • "Serenity WItch" will spawn based on "Serenity Witch Chance".

  • "Serenity WItch" has deep blue glow when survivor is closer to her "personal space" radius.

  • This witch has "personal space" with the radius of almost 3x melee range.

  • This "personal space" will automatically scan for survivors, & it can bypass wall (just like how witch can hear gunshots behind the wall)

  • When survivors enter her "personal space", they MUST walk or crouch to prevent from alerting her (imagine a espionage/ spy game where you have to sneak to pass some enemies).. If they either walk or crouch, she will only growl & never get angry. So, even if you need to jump, you must keep holding either Walk or Crouch button when she's nearby.

  • If a survivor dares to move/ run normally & he enters her personal space, he will instantly alert her.

  • Shooting near her will also instantly alert her, if the survivor is shooting without holding walk/ crouch button.

  • Alerting her means instant death.

  • Shooting her without doing instant kill/ crown on her means instant death.

  • She will shout like "SILENCE...!" when she's startled & kills a survivor.

  • When she's killed, her death scream will call horde.

  • Bots are walking disasters when this witch is around, because they will see her as a normal witch. So, if you play with bots, disable the "Area Kill" or they will cause you to get killed when witch detects them walking close to you.

  • TIPS: As this witch is very calm, you can try to crown her by holding Walk button. I haven't tested this yet, but the instant death is triggered only if the "Player startled the witch" shows up. So, if you can kill the witch without that notification showing up, you won't die. Propane tank or explosive ammo is the better choice if she's blocking the way but you have no way to crown her. & if you play with bots, use a bot mod that can order bots to stop somewhere so you can handle this witch first without having to alert her. & don't ask a bot to crown her, as she can detect running movements (if the bot is walking, he'll be fine though).


So with this mod, Nick's ex-wife was finally recruited by "Supreme Witch Queen", to help her conquer the abandoned areas for the territory of her new empire.


NOTES:
  • Witch's traits on "Serenity Witch" are applied only on "Serenity Witch". Normal witch still has her default L4D2 traits.
  • The "Coma" (black & white) state when I startled the witch happened because I used a mod to prevent instant death. Normally it's an instant death.
  • Bot's fast movements on the animated previews were from other mod, "Sprint System". not from this mod.
  • Probably a bug: When you see the 4th animated preview, the witch slapped Rochelle after killing Coach. When recording & making this animated preview, I didn't use other witch mod that could make witch change target. So, this witch's strange behavior was probably caused by her "personal space" scan radius. So to put it simply, there's a random chance that she will change a target automatically after killing a survivor with a death curse if there's another survivor nearby in the radius of her "personal space" when she's in confused state.

you could change the damage to be weaker but faster movement speed and change how long it lasts for

@ZombieZach , normally it should be possible, though it would make the acid quite OP as it can lock on one survivor till incapacitation.

hey can you make a script that makes the spitter acid spit follow the closes survivor like lots of rats wanting to eat the survivor
