Description
Reduced the raw stats of wall-type buildings to promote more dynamic unit engagements, making walls less tanky while emphasizing their strategic value in warfare. The Flood Barrier cost reduction is a freebie — can't hurt, right? (

Major Changes:
  • Reduced wall hit points: decreased from 100 to 75 per tier (Technology Steel unlocks 300 HP defenses).
  • Increased melee attack damage against walls: effective damage raised from 15% to 50% (matching ranged units).
  • Walls and their upgrades now grant Combat Strength bonus to adjacent friendly combat units (Walls and Castles provide +2 each).
  • All combat units gain +5 Combat Strength when attacked by city defenses.
  • All Cavalry units receive a -10 Combat Strength penalty when attacking city with walls.
  • The first city of each civilization starts with a free Wall.
  • Cost of the Flood Barrier reduced by 50%.

Vanilla walls had absurdly high HP scaling, extreme melee damage reduction, and overwhelming ranged suppression — I've nerfed them. (Siege and support units are still efficient choice for taking cities. Cavalry? Still not great at attacking walls.)

As compensation, guided by the principle that "defending a city isn't about sitting inside helplessly" (and reflecting my personal preference for active unit control), walls and their upgrades now grant Combat Strength bonuses to adjacent friendly combat units. You can now use border cities as strongpoints to hold back superior enemy forces, engaging in delaying actions and maneuver warfare. In turn, clearing enemy military presence around a city becomes crucial for successful sieges. (I encourage using this mod alongside my other mod “Morale and Siege” that promotes siege warfare.)

To give you a little extra peace of mind amid these "offense-favored" changes, this mod grants a free Wall to the capital of every major civilization at the start of the game.

The Flood Barrier adjustment is another freebie — cost reduced by 50%. Can't hurt, right?

@iPlayGamesITA That will add code complexity much. And in my point of view, it's too powerful. I don't wish strength bonus be that widespread.

That of the bonus combat strength for adjacent units is an interesting idea. Can turn minor cities into military outposts when placed strategically. I'd suggest also giving combat strength when adjacent to the encamment district too, since it also benefits from walls
