Green Ribbons | Expanded Machinations

Description
Welcome back to another night beneath the aurora! This room is an expanded (and much more fully-realized) remake of my submission to the "Build-A-Room #5: Cozy Holiday Edition" contest back in 2023. Featuring...

- New areas to explore
- Vastly expanded puzzle count
- Refined versions of previously existing puzzles
- Completely overhauled visuals & lighting
- Fully incorporated sound design-- Every object will make appropriate sounds when picked up, dropped, thrown, or interacted with
- All new Spatial Audio option for music-- Select up to 5 different music tracks to be played as normal, or from actual 3D sources within the environment
- Full VR & Steam Deck* support

*Steam Deck Users: Please set your Textures set to "Half" before loading the room.

Multiplayer is supported, but not yet fully tested. You may experience bugs, particularly with desync between players on certain puzzles. Please report anything you run into so I can look into it.

A very special mention to GG3L, as many things I've incorporated into this room I didn't even realize were possible until seeing his LUA scripts and learning many useful tips & tricks from him!

Hope everyone enjoys! Please feel free to post all feedback & suggestions here. I do my best to keep up with bug fixes & QoL improvements.

See you in ES2!

@Steeloid

You can find one by Sam, although this is the one I'd like to rehide most as I felt I made it a little too obscure. Its a bit easier to spot from the outside through the window.

One by the fireplace / firewood.

One by the lower bookshelf on the concrete wall. And two by the dining room bookshelves-- one hidden in an unassuming object and the other you'll need to find the code for on another object by the white couch.

One in the bathroom, once you're closed in

One halfway up the stairs

One around the gramaphone

One in the bedroom

Any hints to where the tokens are? I can't find any.

Thank you everyone for all the kind words on the room!

I just pushed a couple updates which included VR fixes for the thermometer puzzle and magnet puzzle monocle. The room should now once again be entirely playable from start to finish in VR. Thanks for your patience on these fixes!

This is absolutely stunning - as a map, but also as a home! I would pay you to be my interior designer lol :p

Hey all, after some brief VR testing tonight it appears a couple of the latest updates broke the thermometer puzzle in VR, along with the monocle for the magnet puzzle. I'm not sure exactly what causing these issues in VR specifically, but I am looking into them.

What a beautiful, clever, and innovative room. Genuinely such a joy to play through it, despite getting stuck once or twice. The chimney smoke was an especially memorable "Eureka!" moment. Thanks for putting in all the effort to bring this to life :p2cube:

Performance is really, really bad in this room — rather than a solid 144, getting around 30 — and changing textures doesn't really make much of a difference. That combined with how much we needed to move around to figure out how any of large number of clues fit with any of the inputs (ie locks), combined with the walkthroughs not being broken down into small enough pieces to know if we're spoiling ourselves by clicking on anything, made us not really get very far in.

For what it's worth, the map looks gorgeous, and the music was nice, and the puzzles we did do felt unique enough, if a bit focused around spot-the-detail. It's apparent you put a lot of effort into this, and I can appreciate it even just for that. We'll probably give it another try later if you figure out anything major for performance

@Medic What platform are you playing on? If on Steam Deck or an older PC, try setting Textures to "Half" in your settings before launching the room.

This level crashed the game when I tried to start it. It says loading custom model 1/198 or something like that and then the whole game crashes. I have tried it several times. also unsubscribing and subscribing but could not get it to work at all unfortunately.
