Does CHF barrel even usefull in BO6 MP?

The CHF barrel issue
CHF barrel is a special barrel found on most Black Ops 6 weapons.

This barrel increases headshot damage (or upper body damage for sniper rifles and the Essex Model 07), but significantly increases recoil.

The main problem is that in Black Ops 6, the main camos are associated with killing enemies in the head, but the difference between headshot damage and body damage often so insignificant that there is simply no particular need to aim for the small head at the fast pace of the game.

In addition, the bonus damage from the CHF barrel is often insignificant, but the penalty in the form of increased recoil is always noticeable.



In this guide, I will try to answer the question of when the CHF barrel actually makes any difference in effect and under what conditions it can (and sometimes should) be used.

The only limitation that was accepted in the calculations was the choice of damage indicator no further than 25 meters (this is exactly the range of the second target at the shooting range).




Why?

First, Black Ops 6 is already very fast-paced, so consistently hitting the head at such a distance is more a matter of luck than skill.

Second, the CHF barrel always gives a significant recoil penalty, making it even more difficult to hit the head, especially at distances beyond medium range.




This guide will also NOT cover the following examples:
  • Sniper rifles — because they increase damage to the upper body, which improves the chance of killing an enemy with one shot, and that's almost always a good thing

  • Essex Model 07 marksman rifle — the CHF barrel works like a sniper rifle, increasing damage to the chest

  • Weapons that use special attacments that also block barrel selection (especially for comparison)

  • Shotguns NOT with slug ammunition

  • Cases where 4+ headshots are required (regardless of distance)

Hardcore
What about Hardcore?

In Hardcore mode, the player has 22 health, which in most cases means that any hit will result in death (excluding through-shots).

Sometimes weapons deal less than 22 damage to the head, so using a CHF barrel can improve headshot results at certain distances.
