Doom Empire Frigate "WIP"

Much like the patrol ships, the Firgate class was much larger and more powerful, but retained the same outward design features as the Pratol class, with sleeker looks and shapes, but still had that intimidating, imposing look the Patrol ships portrayed.

The class was originally built to replace the ageing patrol class entirely, but didn't have the flexibility that the patrol ships had and was more of a drop ship in terms of its large cargo bay and bulky hull. Landing was a nightmare as the ship nearly held its own weight due to the lack of landing gear and had to use a lot of power just to lift off.
The Frigate Major's crippling flaw was its inability to safely land on planets with high gravity and often crushing its one landing gear.

Despite the weakness, this Frigate class was heavily defined with strong armour and triple shields, making it a fortress and resinged in front-line combat as a shield ship for much larger, slower classes. This Class failed its original purpose. It was used in combat, modified into a warship.

The Frigate Class was phased out and replaced entirely by the 50-year war with destroyer-class ships that did the same job but better and far more valuable. No Frigate Class ships survived to make it into production. Only 16 vessels were built, 14 destroyed in battle, 3 wrecks, partly intact, that never lifted the planets they landed on, sat still as empty hucks stripped of valuable parts by the Doom Empire, now unrecognizable.
