Walk In Place

Description
An asset to make your model walk and run in place while facing the camera in response to keyboard or controller input.

A set of walk/run/jog/strafe animations converted from Mixamo is included, but these can be swapped out for any animation of your choosing.

To use, simply add a "Walk In Place" asset to your scene, select your model, camera and input method, then enable the asset. The keyboard and controller bindings can be changed to fit whichever controls the game you are playing uses.
You may need to adjust the camera and character placement under "Camera / Character Setup" to fit your model.

For information about the different available settings you can enable the "Display Property Descriptions" option to show short explanations above most fields.

Important notes:
  • Warudo needs to be running with administrator privileges in order to receive keyboard/controller input while the main window is not focused. Follow the steps outlined in this tutorial to enable this: Warudo Docs[docs.warudo.app]
  • The way Warudo handles keyboard input means that modifier keys (shift, alt, control) will not work exactly as expected. For example: If you are using the shift key to run, the running state will only be entered/exited after a different non-modifier key is pressed or released afterwards. This is an unfortunate limitation that cannot be bypassed without using third-party software which I wanted to avoid.
  • In some cases Warudo will not receive keyboard input at all if a game running with administrator privileges is focused, usually if that game was not started through Steam. This also affects all hotkeys set in blueprints since this asset uses the same mechanism to track the keyboard state. In that case you may try to run Warudo as administrator manually (i.e. not through Steam but by right clicking Warudo.exe in the installation folder and selecting "Run as administrator").

@Suikudo : Good suggestion and something that I'd been thinking about adding before. Strafing animations and related settings are now available.

I see the field where you can change the walk/run animations for forwards and back but would it be possible to include strafing as well?
