This map is heavily WIP! Not much of the detailing is in place, but a good amount of the track and roads are here and ready to go. Also note that this map is pretty big, so potato computers might have a little trouble running it.

Hello and welcome to the West Island! This is a fictional third island making up New Zealand. This island is far smaller than the existing two and is located to their west. It is extremely mountainous and sparsely populated. However, there are quite a few towns on the island, and only one railway network, which is modeled here on this layout.

This rail network was constructed in a joint effort by various mining and logging companies that desired to connect their places of business by rail. Towns sprung up along the rail lines, and today it is a sprawling and highly-used network.

The collection of rail equipment present is quite an unusual assortment. Mostly it consists of similar equipment to what is seen on the nearby North and South islands of New Zealand, but due to the international nature of the companies that built the lines in the first place, locomotives and train cars from many other countries and manufacturers join in to keep the network running.

There are many different towns on the network (20 so far), each with their own industries or ways they contribute to the railroad’s operation. In the future, I’ll put together a proper industry chain, but for now, here’s a list of every town and its local industries and/or points of interest. Every town has a passenger station.

Borolenn (Bore-oh-lenn) - Iron mine, small yard
Cob Kila (Cob Kai-la) - Iron mine
Duro (Dew-row) - Freight warehouse, grain depot, small yard
Elderstone - Metal fabricator industry, small yard, small rail equipment maintenance facility
Ginher Valley (Ginner Valley) - Coal mine, switchback track
Harnsey (Harn-see) - Small yard
Hiscuyaber (Hiss-Q-yay-burr) - Small yard, coal mine
Laskey - Old mining site
Longwell - Locomotive shed/maintenance, medium yard, small grain industry
Meza (Me-zah) - Tungsten mine, two separate small yards
Palmany (Pal-min-e) - Large coal mine, military depot, large yard
Paramoga (Pear-uh-mo-guh) - Oil well, oil refinery, medium yard
Port Adrian - Three separate large yards, beach area with rail service, large seaport, container dock, railcar barge, coal, ore, oil, and grain export areas
Rapids - Small grain industry
Satilla (Suh-till-a) - Military bunker/base, medium yard, Perkins iron mine
Terby Valley - Medium yard, iron mine, Pollard Nuclear Waste Disposal Facility
Torra Rorra (Tore-a Roar-a) - Iron mine, small yard
Vye - Copper mine, logging depot
Wika (Why-kuh) - Sawmill
Wyngra (Win-gruh) - Grain elevator

Additionally, this map features a fully functional (but incomplete) road network. The intersections are designed so turning both right and left is possible, so you could hop in a car and explore the map by road! As of now, there are switchboards to control the roads in each town, but not every part of the network has been set up with switchboards yet. Don't forget, you're driving on the left!

Also, this map's base terrain was made by Franks. It is a segment of a quickterrain made by Franks long ago to showcase the system when it was first added. I yoinked the terrain from the game's files, turned it into a quickmod, then scaled it way up. Then I started building stuff on it to make this map!

Changelog since previous version:
- Massively expanded the size of the map, many new towns, rail lines and roads
- Many new details and improvements throughout
- Removed old Port Adrian docks area
- Added a new port area farther down the coast to replace old location
- Added beach area in previous port location
- New and improved trains

Known issues:
- A large portion of the terrain has no collision
- There is another town near Torra Rorra which has no name yet
- Many road intersections do not have switchboards to control them, rendering them nonfunctional
- A rail line outside Wyngra leads to a dead end, this is for future expansion
- There is a very broken track section in Rapids that causes trains to freak out when passing over
- Not every town actually has a passenger station (I forgor to add platforms to all of them)

Plans for 0.3:
- Continued map expansion along the coast
- More clearly defined industries, industry chain
- Operational functionality improvements in preparation for multiplayer gameplay (road drivability, signal systems, control points, centralized train traffic control)
- Systems in place to make the map fully playable in mini-mode (teleporter network, control centers/junction towers, mini-mode drivable road network)
- More well-rounded industry variety
- Steel mill industry
- Large naval/military/air force base
- Nuclear power plant
- Possible electric train support on some parts of the network

Additional notes:
- Credit to Franks for the Cathedral of Adrian, which is the Cathedral mini-map ripped with the prop grouping tool. This was done with his permission.

Enjoy!
