Description
Why are hills stronger than plains? Why are ocean tiles so weak? Why do tiles always have fixed yields?
This MOD introduces randomized yields for all tiles, making your expansion and planning more uncertain and fun.

  • Every tile yield will be randomized instead of fixed by terrain or feature.
  • Randomization is done once when the game is first loaded — all tiles have fixed random values for that session.
  • You won’t know a tile’s yield until you expand into it.




How the Randomization Works
The yield randomization is not completely arbitrary. Each tile generates a set of “candidate yields” depending on its terrain and features.
For example:
  • Plains may have Food and Production as candidates.
  • Geothermal Fissures may have Science as a candidate.

From these candidates, the system draws one as the final yield. Both yield type and value are randomized from the candidates.

The final yield value is determined by Standard Deviation.
For example, under the default preset:

Mean: 3

Standard Deviation: 1

Tile yields range between 2 – 4

Additionally, yields are affected by Weighted Random Rounding:

A tile rolls 2 points of yield, type Science

Science weight is 0.67 → effective yield is 1.34

Final yield has 34% chance to round to 2, 66% chance to round to 1

Result may be +1 Science

  • Mean: 3
  • Natural Wonder Mean: 5
  • Standard Deviation: 1
  • Candidate draws: 2
  • Torres del Paine (double mountains) multiplier: 2
  • Torres del Paine radius: 1

Terrain Group Modifiers:
  • Desert: -2
  • Tundra: -1
  • Snow: -3
  • Mountain: -3

Terrain Modifiers:
  • Ocean: -3

Feature Modifiers:
  • Oasis: +1

Yield Weights:
  • Food: 1
  • Production: 1
  • Gold: 2
  • Science: 0.67
  • Culture: 0.67
  • Faith: 1
