Like my Tir na n'Og mod, Vaettiheim is not a weak nation – it was arguably overpowered back in Dominions 5, and while it has seen an array of nerfs since those days, none of them are crippling. Some do, however, feel either a little too much or just plain un-fun to deal with.

In particular, the mount changes turned your wolf cavalry from solid units into "sometimes they reach to the lofty heights of 'usable'", which constricts the scope of your options, and therefore the choices you can make, and the pathing changes made Vaetti Gygjas, an already awkward mage for how many X1's they charged for without necessarily being able to use, even less reliable in an irritating fashion.

In absolute terms, trading guaranteed Barkskin and Mossbody casting for Blur and Luck is probably a wash, but it dilutes their pool so that a mage that was already awkward to work with went from "can always at least battlecast something with either a functional 2 or comming up" to "yeah sometimes you just eat ♥♥♥♥ and have to work with 1's and no comm capability".

To that end, this mod aims to give Vaettiheim a little bit of a spitshine, not returning them to their oppressive glory days, but making piloting them a bit more comfortable. To wit;

– Added 1 level of temperature popkill resistance to forts.
– Altered magic pathing for Vaetti Gygjas to G1H1 WDN WDN SGB. The Vaetti Gygja are extremely high variance, but they are once again always offering something useful, as befits a 265g mage.
– Added barding to Wolf Brothers and Wolf Riders. They might actually be usable again!
