The Lightning

Description
The Lightning is a Core17 Fast Battleship.

With an asymmetric 7 Drive thruster propulsion system, The Lightning utilizes the game's most CPU efficient thrust arrangement for unheard of speed and maneuverability in an end-game battleship. 8 - 3x3x6 Component bays, plus 12 Drive thruster capacity, & Large Fusion core compatibility, The Lightning can hold any arrangement of any and all components, including maximum drone bays and pads.

The ship is armed as an example, for the users understanding of mounting points and options. As a Core17 it still has 80,000 CPU space left for options, plus the option of adding an advanced core on top of that.

20+ Forward facing ZIrax-model mounting points, for utilization of a large contingent of T1 Modulated turrets, with additional backward-facing anti drone positions optional. Your nacelles feature full mounting options for the maximum turret count, including 6 unobstructing Artillery Turret positions.

This ship is exceptionally fast, with exceptional steering, and that's just with it's efficient thrust arrangement, it has open slots for an additional 5 Antimatter drive thrusters, which take the ship to 80 m/s omni-directionally and 40+ yaw/pitch/roll. This is the fastest end-game battleship ever made for the scenario, should you choose to arranage it that way, alternatively, it can maintain it's efficient 7-Thruster arrangement, and pile more CPU into weapons and shield than any other ship while still being limits-conforming.

All-type decoy, with a 99% Xeno/steel hull, explosion proofing, and double-hull around your Generator room, this is a very tough, very resilient airframe.

This is an exceptionally expensive ship, with a lot of hard-to-acquire parts. The Lightning can be sized-down to an effective Core9, if desired, and I would encourage anyone interested in using the airframe to take it into creative, to choose the weapons and components most suited to you. I am releasing this as a full core17 w/ the weapons it has so the weapon-mounting points and component storage arrangement is clear and obvious.

This is an advanced design, and it is expected that you take it into creative not only so you can customize it to your needs, but also so you can fly through the chassis for a full understanding of the ships arrangement and options.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

I don't know how you keep doing it. This is going to be docking on my Tineo, after a bit of resource gathering. It'll be fun to see what she can do!

Take the author's suggestion @pmota and play with both in creative mode. As usual, Artemis has well marked upgrade locations and I was surprised to see that when I added in the remaining drive thrusters for F and B that yaw was even better than what I had tweaked in my V2 Starcadian. I recently was able to finish an advanced core and have to seriously consider using the Lightening rather than spending it in my V2. Both are good choices. You can expect the best from the shipyards of Artemis Rogue.

I was using a Fist of Lyssa that I upgraded all the way to core 17 and was considering The Arcadian / Starcadian V2 as my next battleship. Should I go for The Lightning instead ?

How does this compare to the Starcadian V2? Assuming both are fully core-17 with anti-matter drive thrusters, which might be better for Legacy engagements?

And once again, bravo sir, just bravo! Well done. You're knowledge of the game's mechanics is astounding.
