Snake is an expert in knife throwing and martial arts. A formidable sprinter, he can move from point A to point B swiftly and without being noticed. Known within A.I.M under his real name, Robert Armand, he was trained in commando techniques alongside Blood and Huyuhyiu.

After distancing himself from the communist rebels and later joining A.I.M, Robert faced serious challenges. Mocked and harassed by certain veteran mercenaries who disrespected his condition — an hypoconvergence, preventing his eyes from aligning properly — he suffered greatly, and it affected his missions.

One night, while camping in the savanna before a long march toward a red diamond mine, Robert was violently assaulted. Four mercenaries, without reason, began beating him while he was barely awake. Awakened by the noise and Robert’s cries, Huyuhyiu and Blood — who were on assignment with him that night — immediately understood the situation. Without wasting time trying to talk, they went straight into action.

Blood hurled his blades, which pierced deep into the biceps of one assailant, instantly paralyzing him and stopping his attack cold. Huyuhyiu charged at full speed, sending the two men crushing Robert to the ground flying several meters away. The attackers, now enraged, drew combat knives and crowbars.

Snake, regaining his senses and realizing that this night would change everything, acted on instinct. He grabbed two black mambas slithering near the campfire and hurled them at the enemies Huyuhyiu had thrown aside. Terrified by the deadly reptiles, the mercenaries screamed and stumbled in panic—until each felt cold steel driven into their spines.

Snake closed in on the two wounded men and, with the same contempt they had shown him, slit both their throats.

The fourth mercenary, surrounded by the three A.I.M operatives, refused to surrender and charged with his knife. Snake drew his Hi-Power pistol and shot both his knees, sending him collapsing into the flames of the campfire. His screams of agony echoed across the savanna that night.

Keith, Huyuhyiu, Robert, and the renegade mercenary stood silently as the man was consumed by fire. That night, the renegade understood that no handicap or flaw ever justified such cruelty.

That night, Snake forged his legend and earned his nickname. The loyalty and brotherhood of his two comrades resonated throughout A.I.M, reminding everyone that such disgrace would never again be tolerated in their ranks.
