I find this as a temporary solution, because in the near future it'll become even harder than now to update mods.

Oddly enough, the only thing that's worked for me is this specific path:

1. Change the mod ID.

2. Switch to the Modding Beta. Go on steam, right click on GDT --> properties --> Beta and from there click on Modding.

3. Launch the game and update the mod.

4. Switch back to the default version.

5. Update the mod.

6. Switch back to the Modding Beta again.

7. Update the mod. This time, the mod should actually be updated.

The only time this didn't work was with smaller updates, where there must be a significant difference between the initial file size and the new file size.

I'm convinced the game no longer even manually updates Workshop mods anymore, so if the Workshop version has actually updated, you should unsubscribe from the mod, delete it from the mods_ws folder, and resubscribe.

But if it didn't update, the situation is different. One indicator that the mod hasn't updated is that the file size on Steam doesn't change after the update when it should, or the changelog doesn't detect a new update.

WildLukah do you know how I can get the latest version of the mods to load in the game?

I've updated them all to v1.1.0 and included that in the title. When the game is loading, it says "Preparing Game Stats v1.1.0..." but then it still shows the old version with the old title in the mod list. And functionality I've added in v1.1.0 isn't present in the game, so it definitely appears to be loading and using the older version. This is after I've moved them out of my "mods" folder so that it pulls them in from the workshop.

I've tried changing the game ID, unsubscribing/re-subscribing, deleting all local caches, disabling the mods and restarting then re-enabling and restarting again... can't figure it out!

Thanks WildLukah I appreciate it!

If you'll ever need help with updating your mods, feel free to ask me! It truly sucks having to delete and re-post the same mod just to update it.

Really great!

There are some workarounds to updating mods. Changing the ID of the mod and constantly switching between the Modding and Default betas while updating worked for me.

Changed the multi-genre tracking.

Instead of assigning +0.5 to each genre, +1 is assigned to the primary genre, and +1 is assigned to the secondary genre beneath the primary genre.

So say you have released 3 "Action" games and 2 "Simulation" games, and no multi-genre games so far. Then you release an "Action"+"Simulation" game.

Action will now be 4. Simulation will still be 2. But if you select Action as the primary genre, Simulation will show 1 in the secondary genre selection.

@WildLukah it seems updating mods is difficult! I think I have it figured it out now.

Saved your comment though as a good idea:

> If I remember correctly, there are two separate menus for the first and second genres. You could also make that it tells you how many times you've chosen a genre as your second while developing a game.

Apologies for deleting the previous mod! The publishing and updating functionality is... finicky to say the least.

From now on, I should be able to update this mod and it won't be deleted again.
