Some people say that the energy gain from Rhythm is too strong, but in the early game, going from 1 to 2 is easy, while 0 (or 3) to 1 is quite difficult. I think that's good, isn't it?
The damage advantage from going from Rhythm 1 to 2 feels about as strong as Defect's Dualcast.
In the mid-to-late game, the energy supply feels like it breaks the balance, but there's still a risk to having cards that cost 3 or more. Plus, you need special cards to get to Rhythm 1.
Taking a rare card can break the balance, but that's part of the fun of Slay the Spire, right?
