Description

Three Pools Mirroring the Moon is one of the Ten Scenes of West Lake in Hangzhou, China. It is located on Xiaoyingzhou Island, the largest island in the southern part of West Lake. On the southern lake surface stand three stone pagodas, each hollow with circular openings. On moonlit nights, lanterns are lit inside the pagodas, and the light shines through the holes onto the water, blending with the moonlight above to create a breathtaking scene where “three pagodas reflect one moon, one ripple holds a round glow.” This dreamlike spectacle attracts countless visitors and is featured on the reverse side of the one-yuan banknote.
